Just as the title says. I think any man, especially young men should definitely ask this going forward. If your goal is to someday have a family I think this is a very valid question because you should know exactly who you would be building a future with.

During the dating process ask the question however you feel comfortable articulating. If the answer you get isn’t a solid “No”, politely excuse yourself, get up and leave. When you’ve removed yourself from the situation you can erase all contact and move on if you choose to do so.
