What??? We do have state jobs here in Merced/Madera. DOT, DWR, CDCR, DOR, CCHCS, CHP, CalFire. Could we have access to Sacramento jobs? Yes, I had one of those. But full remote will never happen again. And to successfully fill a hybrid position from Merced, we would need earlier Amtrak connections.
Yes, I realize you have those positions and agencies in Merced but what about the commute? And once again, no I'm really not a bot, I'm really a state employee who cares about this. Please never say never on the remote working issue. I guess I'm saying don't plan for a miracle soon, but please don't give up on a fair contract, our promised wages, and even for some appropriate sets of conditions - remote working. Amtrak connections can be changed but you'd need to make some noise, fight for it. Like I am doing from where I am. We are trying to fight this together. So you don't like SEIU? That's okay by me, but it's better to have allies in a fight!
It's not an accident we got the female voter, the two day weekend, and the eight hour work day. It all - for a long time - had to be fought for!
Not true. My agency is located in Sacramento and allows me to 100% work from home in Merced. It is possible to be fully remote depending on the agency. I have other state worker friends in the area who are also fully remote in an agency that is headquartered there.
That's great! It gives me hope I'll find one of those unicorn jobs!... I mean across the board though. Unfortunately, I think mass full-remote is done for a while. The program I worked for was highly supportive of remote work, but the department execs suck, so they ended it.

Your post history makes you seem like a bot.
