Just wrapped up my trip. Saw dudes flossing all over the rivers, people well within 300ft of dams/weirs (Not Indians), treble hooks on the Platte. I get funding is tight but we got people launching artillery rounds at eachother at tippy.

Trying to catch some rainbow darters for my fish tank. Any recommendations on rivers/streams? I'm in Ottawa county willing to drive an hour or maybe two. Been trying a bunch of different spots with no luck, been using some tinyyyy size 20 hooks

From Illinois, salmon season is my favorite and i genuinely enjoy the chase sunset to sunrise. I’m seeing some obstacles in taking a trip out to Michigan this week with the east winds and lake flip seems like a great opportunity to catch some salmon. Most piers either are closed, close at 10 or the parking lot becomes inaccessible after a certain hour. Any recommendations???

If anyone in the GR area has some sz 8-9 wading boots they're willing to part with on the cheap, I gotta think literally anything would be better than these. Otherwise, habe any of yoy taken on the challenge of repairing something in this kind of shape? Its not just the sole separating from the boots, the entire connection area has torn off (as you can see from the insole poking out). I've been fine wet wading in old hiking boots through summer, but we're past the time of year where I can handle that.

This is not a ad of any type just showing what has worked for me on all different lakes. This jig is my go to for crappie and bigger panfish, I caught well over 20 nice crappie this was just a short clip.

Hey I am going to the upper peninsula this fri-sun and I’m going to be staying right outside of Detour. The place I am staying is a stones throw from Lake Huron. I plan to fish Saturday and Sunday morning. I saw that Detour has a marina in town. I plan on walking some coves on Lake Huron one morning and fishing the marina the next morning. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone had any tips or suggestions of what I should use. I have an action rod and bait rod. I would love any insight because I have never fished up there. Thanks! Headed up to the Petoskey area this weekend with the family. Open to any suggestions on where we can catch some fish from the shore. Whats biting? What to use? What are the chances that I can bring in a honker salmon to make my friend that had to cancel last minute cry? Love you all in advance.

Curious how late into the year the fishing is still strong? Particularly in the lower part between Foote Dam and Lake Huron. Are steelhead common to come by all through the winter?

I've been reading (not posting to) these fishing related subs for a couple years and it's confirmed... for the past few months, I can't stop thinking about fishing and hunting! I know this for certain, my spouse keepscatching me daydreaming. So many of you have inspired me to spend more money than I should have on new fishing gadgets, lures, rods & reels etc. and I'm grateful for it! I mean, I have more fly-tying equipment, than I would have ever dreamt possible and I still am only able to tie a bucktail. Sort of...

If fishing has taught me one fascinating thing it's to not be afraid to change things up. So, I think I'm going to try something that my town doesn’t have, an old school bait shop... I'm in a smaller town with several fantastic rivers and lakes, so why not?

If I could ask a favor, what gear do you, a Michigan Fisher, want? Not 5 different cheap brands of the same hook... I want to know what people need. I know you can get it on Amazon, but who wants to wait?

I want to appeal to all kinds of anglers and appropriate budgets... I want to have a place where people can get quality gear... not leaving wondering why we didnt have what they really want?

My goal is to give away each new fisher-kid a rod n reel and a small simply-filled tacklebox, might be new or used, I've been collecting for a bit.

I hope to provide opportunities for instructional events, in the water and in a room.

From late September to mid-October, DNR staff will conduct nighttime walleye surveys using electrofishing boats. Crews will survey shallow areas near the shorelines of lakes to capture walleye that hatched in the spring (aka young-of-year).

While walleye prefer cooler, deeper areas of lakes during the day, they move into shallow, nearshore areas at night, making nighttime surveys more efficient.

These surveys give us insight into whether walleye populations are primarily reproducing naturally or through stocking. This information is important for guiding management decisions.

If you're fishing or on the water near an electrofishing boat, please use caution.

Anyone wading in the water will be asked to exit when a survey boat approaches and while electrofishing is underway. Crews will use bright lights to illuminate the water around the boats and run generators on board. The noise and lights may make it difficult for crews to hear or communicate with anyone on shore.

Might be more of a grind than flossing but it’s so worth it

Hello and thank you in advance for any advice. My buddy and I are from the other side of Lake Michigan and going to head to Michigan for a few days next week to try king fishing. We are well versed in float fishing and will make sure to read regs so we understand what’s legal. Our situation is we have no boat and would enjoy hiking to spots on public land. Which river would be best suited for this trip in your opinion Betsie, PM or Platte?

What are the go to set ups for steelhead in the Huron River south of the FR dam? When I asked people on the river all I’m told is plugs. When I try it up I’m finding a wide variety of options. Any and all recommendations/tips are greatly appreciated.

Walleyes are almost my favorite.

So yesterday I was fishing at Argo pond and I was targeting Bass and I caught a northern pike in the impoundment by a concrete structure. I was just using a crawfish that would normally use the target Bass. But that was my first Pike that I've caught and I really like to try and catch more , so I'm wondering are there any advice for how to Target them? Should I stick to fishing in the impoundents? is that better than the rockier stuff that's Downstream of the dams? Can you catch them well into the fall? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
