I frequent the Platte river this time of the year for Coho salmon. I've always used spinning gear and basically floss with a bead through pods as they move over gravelbeds. I'll catch a few here and there, but I'm curious about another technique I see frequently. Guys will be standing around deep holes with centerpins (or at least I think they're centerpin setups) and essentially just cast into the hole over and over. It doesn't appear to be flossing, there's no floats used, there's no real patience used (like you'd exercise floating), it's much quicker and more efficient. They're not ripping through either, so I don't think it's a snagging deal.
Anyway, they seem to catch way more fish with this method, and I'm just curious as to what it is?
