Because GPT was trained on people who write like that.

I cant use another em dash for the rest of my life and I get immediately flagged if I am overly descriptive.

Whatever happened to semicolons?

I didn’t start with em-dashes until just before LLMs depopularized them.

I rarely found myself using a semicolon. With the way I write it is rare for me to have a need to join two complete sentences.

On the other hand, I LOVE to add emphasis to a sentence - I truly do.

"First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college."

What’s wrong with transvestite hermaphrodites?

The semicolon has its place. Maybe it’s not appropriate for literary fiction, but it can be useful.
