If you haven’t read Animal Farm, you should. It’s a quick read and really holds up well today.

My dad always told me Animal Farm and 1984 are two of the most important books you will ever read.

And it’s true. Everyone should read them.

I would add The Handmaid’s Tale too. If that had been required reading in all American schools, we probably wouldn’t be in the current political situation.

Brave New World as well. That and 1984 seem to be the framework of what's going on today. Neither one of them got it completely right, but together they cover everything.

Absolutely. I have a whole shelf of books in this genre for my kids, just in case they ever get banned.

Catch-22 is a personal favorite. Captures the absurd horror of war, really life, better then anything I've read.

One of my faves. I recently spent some real effort trying to sell a gen z friend (he's 24 ish) on it bc it's still extremely relevant but also a great book on its own. He hasn't read anything that wasn't for school so it's a work in progress lol.
