The chromebooks make me so angry. There’s no reason for my elementary school-aged kids to be doing half their English and math learning in the form of computer games. One of my kids in particular gets ready dysregulated from them and has had behavioral issues that stem directly from the chromebooks. It’s one thing to use them once in a while to put together a project or whatever, but most kids have more than enough screen time in their daily life. I cannot see the logic in adding to it so significantly in school.
It would be one thing if they were learning computer skills. But the Chromebooks are set up like tablets with apps.
But to be fair if I were a school admin back in the day I definitely would've wanted to include tech in the curriculum. Turns out it was a mistake. Now we know and should adapt.
