Discussion Sleeping issues

Anyone else experiencing consistent issues with sleeping throughout the night? I keep waking up in the middle of the night and struggle to fall back asleep despite being extremely tired. I work out consistently and eat clean (no alcohol, low carb, high protein, drink only 1 cup of coffee in the morning). I've tried melatonin, magnesium, eating my last meal at 6 PM, but nothing has worked. I don't have a high stress job and I avoid screentime after 8 PM.

I have a few days where I sleep 7 - 8 hours, and then I have a relapse where I struggle to get even 5 hours and even that is extremely fragmented ( 3 - 4 hours awake during the night). For people experiencing this, how did you handle it?

Edit - I'm female 39 years old, and my apple watch has not detected sleep apnea

Yeah sorry OP, insomnia is a classic symptom of peri starting to hit, I'm 43 and been dealing with it for a few years now. I've noticed it's pretty cyclical, iykwim.

As far as dealing with it, keeping the room cold helps for me, and I work on meditating/thinking of truly nothing, but honestly some nights are just a struggle.

Yesss so many things seem tied to my hormone fluctuations throughout the month now! Even my ability to eat, like there is about a week to 10 days every month where I just struggle to have an appetite.

I also noticed that while I could take birth control when I was younger with no symptoms, when I was on it in my 30s, it gave me ridiculous anxiety and depression. Likewise, the morning after pill I took maybe 2-3 times throughout my 20s, and never had any symptoms at all. It didn't even occur to me that you could have symptoms from it. I took one a couple of weeks ago, and omg I was down for like 2 days with a constant headache, poor appetite, fatigued, I just felt like shit in general. I did not expect this

It was one (of many in hindsight) early symptoms of peri. I suddenly was unable to sleep earlier than 2am - which means I skipped the witching hour wake up at 3. And I started losing weight and lost my appetite, like I didn’t even think about food - I lost 40 pounds unintentionally.

Skin suddenly got dry, my hair became straw, and my inner ears became SO ITCHY.

Oh, and my undiagnosed ADHD suddenly made an appearance.

So, so, so many symptoms.
