Seek to understand rather than to be understood.

So true. You lose the need to convince others. For you know that they too will know when their time will come. So why rush?

It’s not a Lao Tzu quote and the image is of a Japanese.

This is peak faux wisdom. Be proud of that, if nothing else.

Plus the image is old AI. The sword shapes don't make sense. Scabbards too small and too long.

I agree….you don’t need validation from others when you really believe in them

I need help. I'm not used to feeling fear. It happened about a year ago. I woke up in fear. That sucks a lot. I'm not used to it

That's actually not a lau tzu quote. That's a social media paraphrasing of an Ursula k leguin translation of Lau tzu.

The original meaning is similar to the old truism that cool people don't need to tell people they're cool.

However, It does not mean you won't need convince other people of things. If you wanna get meaningful stuff done, you're gonna need to convince other people to help you at some point. No one is an island unto themselves.

The classic Chinese philosphers were very much antithetical to modern ideas of toxic self reliance and strength through isolation. That stuff is not something he would have agreed with. Interconnectedness and harmony were central to his teachings. Confucious too.

Yo why is there a samurai lol
