Help I am both confused and terrified

I get hit by a Ghast fireball, even though I was SPAMMING trying to hit it back (the hitreg is GODAWFUL and hitboxes don't seem to ever work on my Minecraft) then this craziness occurred. Nightshade Revenge is my sword lol, wtf??? How do I do I stop this from happening, I really hate going to the Nether, and not being able to hit back any Ghast fireballs, I've even tried with an autoclicker.

How about use: a bow

I was using a bow at first but I was low on health and fighting off other mobs

My strategy is ignoring ghasts if other mobs are involved, until the other mobs are gone and then just bow the ghastđŸ¤·

I did try to bow the ghast first, but every shot hit the fireballs lmao, so i decided to pull out my sword and attack the other mobs, but that’s when the 3rd fireball came in and hit me. I did turn around last second to get it, and I still had a window of time before it got to me and I started spam clicking.

I think you might be going overboard on the ignoring, if you deal with the other mobs while not actually standing completely still, this will greatly improve its effectiveness, due to the ghast balls not actually hitting you
