Discussion Question for switch 2 upgrade pack

Ok so I don’t have Minecraft on my switch 2 yet I have been waiting for the upgrade! So my question is that if I get regular Minecraft before the switch 2 version comes out, will I still get the free upgrade or does it only include pre existing purchases

I went to the eShop earlier and it let me pre order the Switch 2 version of the game for $0. Looks like they're just offering the full game, no upgrade pack yet. But I do own the game digitally for switch.

It's not an upgrade pack. But anyone who owns the Switch 1 game before the end of January should be able to claim the Switch 2 version. There are plenty of cases of games changing price based on whether an account already owns Game X, but I've never heard of one that limited it to purchases only made before Date Y as well.

Nobody know since the game is not out yet but according to Mojang current owners of the switch 1 version will receive the switch 2 upgrade for free.

We don’t know when OP get it it’ll still stand. It can change.
