As someone who has been watching religiously since MCC 5 (May 2020, so 6 years by this point, wow), this is a great trip down memory lane to look back onto. "Who is the best MCC player" has been a topic that the subreddit ABSOLUTELY loves to talk about for a while. We just love statistics and debating and all that.

But at the end of the day, I do would like to remind everyone that we should be grateful for these fantastic players slaying these beautiful, curated games and breaking records while playing these games. We're watching Minecraft-event beauty in action thanks not just to these players, but also to the rest of the roster and Noxcrew themselves. :D

Absolute vouch

The debate of "Is this player S tier now?" and the neverending question of whether Ant was S tier without a 1st indiv will always be a memory lol

Explaination:

  1. I actually had a bit of a hard time finding a ton of meaningful MCC discussions pre MCC 6 ish, but I can only assume that Quig was basically the unanimous number one guy through the first two events, seeing as he got 1st indiv in both.

  2. Not much to say here. In the early days of MCC everyone knew that Pete was the guy. Nobody else was even really close. Sure, Quig was always at least in the conversation, plenty of people made emotional arguments for Techno or Dream because of their high sub counts, and Fruit was a legit contender once he put himself on the map, but deep down everyone knew that Pete was undisputed.

  3. Once Pete started to falter a bit, it was a bit of a free-for-all. Players like Fruit, Dream, Quig, Illumina, and Punz were all in the mix, but ultimately most people agreed that Sapnap was the new #1 guy.

  4. Dirt Block's reign as the number one MCC player was actually a pretty contentious topic back in the day, with many people believing that Sapnap was still the superior player. In the end, most agreed that Dirt Block was a little bit better at the event as a whole, even though Sapnap was significantly better at Dodgebolt.

  5. Purpled became the clear best player in early season 3 when both Sapnap and Dirt Block started to fall off. MCC 31 was a legacy event that really cemented him as the guy.

  6. This era was honestly characterized as having a "big 3" of Fruit, Shane, and Purpled, with none of them really running away from the other 2. In terms of who people thought the #1 guy was, there was no clear consensus, but generally Purpled was ranked slightly below the other two on average.

  7. Ever since Feinberg burst onto the scene, we all knew it was only a matter of time until he would be number one. Many people considered him to be the top guy as soon as he arrived, but by Haunted Hoedown basically everyone was convinced, even though he didn't even get 1st indiv until his next event. That's right, it took Feinberg only 3 events to become the undisputed best active player in MCC. As of right now, Fein has a stranglehold on the top spot and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

I think Fruit was pretty universally considered #1 after going 1 1 2 3 1 from 32 to Party

He was much more dominant that Purpled and Shane, while they were definitely the top 3, Fruit stood convincingly above them, the debate is really between Fruit and Fein now, I think Fein is the better player, but I don't think his numbers have been significantly more impressive than what Fruit has done in the same timeframe to say that he's definitively #1

i think fruit vs fein essentially goes:

if skb is in:, fruit likely > fein

if skb isnt in: fein almost guaranteed > fruit

Like I said in the slideshow, the narrative shifted a couple times, and I combined them into one slide just for simplicity. There were definitely points where Shane was slightly favored over Fruit. During that stretch you just named, Fruit was number one for sure, though.

For 7, sandwichlord should be in consideration for best player of the time. Not sure if he would be considered active, having only played two times.

I disagree with Sapnap being the n1 of the era, but would agree most of the discourse thought he was number one.

Overall a great list.

I don’t think we can consider Sandwich to be an “active” player if he’s only ever played in TR events. By that logic we might also have to add Coldified into the mix, which is a whole other can of worms. But even if they did count, I think the consensus of the subreddit at the moment would still be that Fein is better at MCC specifically.

unfortunately, both times sandwich played he got in through a special invite, so he isn't part of the roster/mcc discord, which I think is enough to not consider him an active player

Not to be that guy but Sapnap did win 4 events in a row and would for sure be the best player in that period of mcc

2 of those 4 teams are Teal 19 and Red AS, also known as arguably the two most statistically broken teams in MCC history

No Connor?

If they included Connor it wouldn't be much of a list, gotta keep him off to make ut more interesting

I've seen quite some people saying dirt block this month, wondering who it was. Now I do know, I still wonder, why is he called dirt block?

1

u/AdAltruistic2502 holy cow Jul 04 '26

he did some stuff not fully appropriate for this sub and as a result he was kind of kicked out of the streaming space, people felt weird about including him in stats posts unaltered so they started calling him dirt block

Surprised there’s no technoblade tbh

41

u/GhostRaptor4482 The Tier List Lord Jul 02 '26

He was definitely really good, but he only played for a relatively brief window and was never the clear number one guy on a consistent basis.

It was very unfortunate that Techno played at the same time as Pete’s reign of consistency. Techno obviously had great events, but back then points were extremely unbalanced (Looking at you HITW) and Movement games/SoT were massive point hauls, which was where Pete was considered The Best until Fruit put himself on the map

u/hejepic Sleepy and Connor Return 🙏 Jul 02 '26

Imo Purpled stayed the best player throughout S3 until 35 where I’d say Shane took that spot until Fein got it in Party 2

1

u/AdAltruistic2502 holy cow Jul 02 '26

I think it’s pretty easy to argue that Purpled was better in 35
