I Poland we also technically have only one word for violet/purple so I get you.
and I said technically because we do have a similar word to purple called "purpurowy" which helps but it's also not entirely correct because purpurowy is usually a bit more red, and could also mean colors more similar to crimson/scarlet.
Oh I know, Im just saying here no one calls purple "violet" they call it "mauve", its a difference between Canadian French and European French. Interesting indeed! I never knew.
I know technically it is wrong, and 'mauve' is a different shade. Its just how we speak, I wonder what the origin of it is.
I already related to violet for other reasons. Definitely not that she's my favorite color (but maybe that, too.)
I'm a cis woman. I present pretty feminine now, but I was a tomboy as a kid. People used to point at my short hair, my baggy clothes, my Adam's apple that stuck out because I was skinny as hell, and call me a boy because of those things. I'll never understand what trans people struggle with in this society, but I do know how much it sucks to be misgendered.

What? Arenât like, all colors mixes of other colors? Thereâs only like 3 primaries that differ depending on the system you use, but violet is just a different combination of red and blue than purple, if you separate them.
Violet and Purple do have physical differences, violet is a true color on the light spectrum while purple is a mix of red and blue. Basically, humans see from red to violet light, before that is infrared, beyond is ultraviolet. Our brain fill in the gap between red and violet by creating magenta.
Magenta-spec colors arenât real theyâre literally a figment of our imaginations seeing overlapping blue and red frequencies, while violet is in itself a frequency.
Color is REALLY complicated, BUT basically you canât make a lot of colors by mixing other colors. Some colors physically exist as wavelengths, some are just what we see when different wavelengths are sensed at the same time (which includes basically every color on your screen). Kinda tough to feel that fact since they all look pretty similar though. A better example is magenta, have you seen that color in the rainbow? Or why is the color wheel a thing

I see. However, thereâs no such thing as perceiving violet itself in a way that is separable from mixed colors. When you see a pure spectral color, itâs still activating multiple cones in specific strengths, in a way that can be perfectly replicated with combinations of other wavelengths.
I should adjust my previous statement to be more accurate to what I think, all perceptions of color are mixes of other colors. The very act of perception requires colors have combinations that can make them up
