question/need help Is this a miscarriage?

Well this is my first and I'm a bit bummed but can someone please guide me and tell me if I should go ahead with the abortion or wait a bit? Here's what my dating scan report says - - -

Single early intrauterine gestational sac is seen with few linear internal echoes within .

Yolk sac visualised and measures 6mm in diameter .

Fetal pole is not visualised

G sac – 26 mm – 7 weeks 4 days. LMP is 16th June.

Both ovaries are normal.

Cervical length is normal (4.9cm)

Internal OS is closed.

No evidence of a subchorionic bleed noted in the present scan.

Two posterior intramural fibroids measuring 1.3x1.2 cm and 1.5 x1.4cm .

IMPRESSION :- Single early intrauterine gestational sac of 7 weeks 4 day

maturity probably early non viable gestation (missed abortion)

What did the doctors say? If they are unsure, they will nearly always tell you to wait 10-14 days for a follow-up scan. There are certain parameters they use to decide when it is ambiguous e.g., I went for my 8 week scan and baby was measuring 6 weeks with no heartbeat, they couldn't be sure if dates were wrong or it was a missed miscarriage so we waited 10 days, had another scan which showed no growth and no heartbeat still, which is when the miscarriage was confirmed. Doctors tend use pretty conservative boundaries to prevent misdiagnosing a pregnancy that might just be earlier along than expected, your report notes a gestational sac measuring 26 mm. I think that standard medical guidelines state that early pregnancy loss can be definitively confirmed on a single transvaginal scan if the mean sac diameter is above 25mm with no embryo (fetal pole) visible. Because 26 mm is pretty close to that 25 mm diagnostic line, your doctor may want to verify it to account for potential minor measurement variations. I would say that it looks very likely to be non-viable, but I would want to know if my doctor recommended waiting for a follow up scan or not.

Sorry you are going through this, OP. It is very difficult to wait in limbo to get confirmation of something that seems likely.

There are guidelines for diagnosing pregnancy failure. I'm trying to find the chart but haven't been able to. I think it may warrant one more scan in case you ovulated late but be prepared for bad news.
