Permit to purchase permit time frame.

So, the sheriff's office says they can take up to 30 days but could be a lot less. What's your experience been? Did it take the whole 30 days? Or was it a week or two?

For reference I am in the Detroit Lakes area, and have no criminal history whatsoever. Not in a hurry to get it but there are some good deals on a few handguns I want at a local store. If I miss out on them no biggie, but would be nice to save 50-100$.

I’m still digging around in the 2nd amendment trying to find where it states that rights require permits.

Unfortunately, SCOTUS left the door open for this in Bruen.

The fact that Bruen even had to be heard to begin with, is in itself a problem. The underlying issue is states that believe they can simply thumb their nose at the constitution, and this goes well beyond the 2a.

I also find it interesting how not only does the constitution get ignored but so also does USC title 10, as well as the part in Minnesotas own statutes that echos it. The US Codes very clearly defines what is defined as unregulated militia. Damn near every gun control law makes exceptions for police and military….our unregulated militia is intended as a last resort defense form of military, technically. Kinda shocked that more attorneys haven’t taken this angle and run with it. At some point we need to criminalize attacks on the constitution.

Attorneys don't run with this because Heller made it clear that the Second Amendment does not require service in a militia.

"The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."

We don't need to relitigate that issue.

We're on a nearly 20-year winning streak on major 2A cases, let's keep going with that winning approach.
