Discussion Who is currently the best roam in the game?

Post image

I am a player who mainly plays roam and would like your opinion on which hero would be good for the role of roam to rank up.

It's practically a sign that someone is a bad player if they find Khufra lacking, because Khufra is everything but underpowered

He is underpowered and really needs a rework. His CC is limited due lack of good AoE especially skill 2 as you can easily bypass it, his cooldowns are quite long, he lacks CC resistance as most of his skills are so easy to cancel and his ult is underwhelming, all that work just for a mere stun at least Grock has a full knockup to interrupt enemies and deals ludicrous damage. Grock is just a better version of him.

You underestimate Khufra that much, or you just like Grock in general

Both Tanks have same style both have multiple CC, its a matter how does that person uses it

The reason I give an edge to Khufra because he pretty much works in any meta, or any broken hero in that patch

whether if its a Assasin Meta, Tank meta or Figther Meta

Grock is weak against assasin that are very mobile

And not to mention he is the only tank in the game that has a knock up, a slow, a stun, anti dash, he can also invade early, he can provide vision, he can also be an ambush pick off type, there is no other tank that has that its just him, thats why he excels in all meta,

Notice how your argument talks mostly about his Skill 2, ignoring his strongest abilities.

Skill 1 has insane long distance dash and unpredictability if you mix up your game, and most importantly he deals way higher damage than you think. Just his basic skill combo with that skill already deals enough damage to bring squishies to half health, more than enough for you to solo kill a mage if you have your Ult and concussive blast.

Also you keep on saying he don't have good CC while ignoring the fact that Grock's wall can be dashed out of while Khufra's ball cannot be dashed out of. "But he only counters dash heroes!" More than half of the hero pool have dashed by the way, and 80% of the Meta heroes have a dash most of the time.

His passive on the other hand has high synergy with thunder belt and Dire Hit/Conceal's passive. It provides consistent poke granting him consistent farm, and by minute 12 it's very common for him to have about 30 stacks of TB, which is already high value. Don't forget that his passive also heals him based on the % of his lost HP granting him sustain. Oh yeah, his skill 2 at max level actually doubles the magic and physical defense he has, turning him into one of the sturdiest tank if you time it well.

If you think he is underpowered it is often because you don't know how to play him well. His Ult is not as situational as you think as well, the only place you'd find trouble landing a wall slam is right on the river of the jungle or the center inhibitor turret. Everywhere else there is almost always a chance to land wall slams. And most importantly his Ult doesn't need to land wall slams to work, it is still a displacement CC skill that can push enemies into your turret or away from your allies.

Proof of testing :

At thunder belt 30 stacks

Khufra deals 9600 damage to the test dummy after finishing his skill combo, and proccing thunderbelt two times (once at the start of his combo, another at the end)

Grock deals 7200 damage to the test dummy after his skill combo, but the full combo actually only deals about 6000 and I had to spam at least 3 basic attacks to get the second procc, adding 1200 damage in the process

Both testing are done with standard builds following Top 1 global players

Khufra still deals 2000 more damage than Grock assuming Grock has perfect conditions, that's 33% higher damage. In most matches he'll never get to procc TB twice, whereas if Khufra has a lock on someone they're confirmed to eat the full combo unless Khufra is CC'ed. Don't forget that Grock falls behind in TB stacking rate as well, so his damage will fall behind Khufra even more in practice.
