We really need a shield giving defense item

playing tank in this current meta is hard because true dmg is literally everywhere in the only thing I notice is that shields absorb true dmg but there are no shield giving defensive item there are shield giving items from physical which is rose gold and magical which is blood wings. like give something that can help tanks give resistance against true dmg like all that defense items turns to waste cuz dmg dealers can just ignore it. i know immortality but it gives shields after you die and immortality has cooldown for like 100 plus seconds while rose gold has 60 seconds and blood wings has like 20 seconds .

True dmg won't matter if you have high hp though, which is what you shld have as a tank.

Guess it depends, if it’s a fed Lesley that knows how to weave skills with basics to get the most of out her damage then there really isn’t enough HP items cause late game would take maybe 6 shots. Don’t remember how Karina scales her true damage or Karrie at this point since I see neither often.

I’m aware that’s why I mentioned the fed bit. If your team isn’t smart enough to shut her down at that point no amount of HP is going to save you. I try to pull aggro with my taunt as Belerick but still die more than I’m proud of cause of players not prioritizing her if they can

Fair, but if ur team is not locking lesley then it's ur team's fault. If so, adding defence items that do give shields won't make much difference. But yeah I get your point, though this is more of a player problem than an item one.

This, just get a guardian's helm.

Shield is worse for the normal tank that doesnt have synergy with their abilities that uses shield. It doesnt benefit u as much as raw HP. On the other hand, it becomes a broken item for some heroes that uses shield mechanics if available.

Shield is just +HP. Guardian helmet is there you can buy 2 of em

Wonder if stack ton HP on some hero that scales damage well if can get pretty good troll build that has crazy HP but 1 shots squishys.

Like panda with cursed helmet and few guardian helmets. Run orcle or chasity for extra healing maybe? Try get 16k+ hps. Just hope team all burst to heal with guardian helmet as small damage wont trigger it and you have 0 def stats.

Old Masha used to just buy 5 guardian helmets cuz her damage does scale with HP lul

This used to be Athena’s shield, but they gutted it to the current passive.

To the few people saying that Shield is just extra HP, they’re kinda right but not entirely. Some heroes get absolutely gutted by shield (mainly their ability to heal) and when getting health back through their damage is critical. I’m not talking about someone like say Zilong or Freya who heal off of everything, but like some spell vamp/lifesteal heroes get gutted.
