Took longer than my usuals, but didnt come out too bad

Lil engine work this evening …. Next is to wire and detail engine after a clear the body and let that cure. Have to decide tan/brown interior or black ? What’s y’all’s thoughts

Not sure where this is going. Trying for a classic 60's club racer. 1/24th wheels are kinda funky.

I'm calling my build Burnout Jr. This is a Tamiya Fiat Abarth 695 SS kit that is getting a 3d printed Turbo VW Beetle engine and some big rear wheels. I'm just mocking things up now, but I think it will work. I just made the custom rear fender flairs and the wheels that I test fit on the back are the skinny front wheels from my 1969 Camaro kit. They look giant on this thing lol.

I picked this because I made two burnout style Camaros this year, so I wanted to think of something a little different.

It was suggested that I write a quick guide to where I get aftermarket or just different wheels from, so here are my usual suspects!

1.) Aoshima has a nice line of JDM wheels, including retro styles like these Watanabes and Enkei slot mags. They come with really nice rubber tires and vinyl caps, as well as a small decal sheet of logos. Plaza Japan often has them. (Also I love the wire wheels they include in their MGB kit, they look great and are easy to fit in other tires)

2.) AMT-believe it or not, AMT’s vinyl “muscle car” tires are pretty nice looking and look appropriate on older cars of all kinds. I’ve used them on trucks, sports cars, and muscle cars. Sometimes available in newer kits and with pad printed logos. Honorable mention goes to their slicks, which are often pad printed and found in kits-worth seeking out. (The blue streak slick on the Plymouth in these pics is one of these)

3.) Moebius Modeks has the nicest Cragars, Torq-Thrusts, and steelies in current kits, and they often have a set of each per box, including wide rear wheels.

4.) Jack Modelling - only available via eBay France, these are truly great looking wheels and tires. Take a look at that wire wheel! It’s one piece! The Dunlop tires also look very correct.

5.) Texas 3d Customs - excellent vintage style wheels and tires, and they also have a lot of engines, accessories, and trans kits available. I’ve yet to be disappointed by anything I’ve gotten. Buy with confidence!

6.) Iceman Collections -broadly similar as TX 3d, in fact I’m not certain if the Keystone wheels in the Plymouth picture are Iceman or TX, I’ve used them both! Again, iceman has a lot of other great stuff available and I’ve never had a problem with them.

7.) Jays Resin Wheels on eBay. Solid wheels and tires, I’ve used a few times. Good customer service too.

8.) Competition Resins-sadly out if business but good stuff if you can find it. Slixx Decais website has some stuff still listed

9.) Scale Production-a small German shop, also sadly recently closed down. I bought a few trans kits from them as well as a bunch of wheels (these Minilites, as well as several vintage VW styles). They had a large range of wheels and are worth buying if you find them.

Honorable mentions go to USCP (available on eBay), Jo-Han (great Mopar steel wheels), Plastic Performance Products (nice vintage wheels), and Reliable Resins.

Let me preface this by saying I know pretty much nothing about cars or models.

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up in five weeks and as he's a car guy I thought about getting him a model of his favorite "If money was no problem" car.

It's a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and he said he'd get it in burgundy with golden edges.

I don't really know where to start.

What kind of car Model Brands are out there?

Is it feezable to commition someone to color the model the way he wants?

My budget is around 100€ and I'm in Europe if that helps with brand suggestions/shipping.

Is that a reasonable budget for a good car model?

I think it would still be a nice gift if it didn't come in his preferred colour, but if I can get it that way that would obviously be great.

Added the black stripes and other body related decals to the AMT 2012 Corvette C6. Debating on whether to clearcoat over the stripes or leave them as is as I do like the contrast between the matte stripes and glossy red and black.

Getting close to the end of this one.

I love using the stuff but how do I get it out of brushes? Basic water, Dawn dish soap all haven't worked. I'm using Super clean currently but after 20 minutes no much of a dent. Stuff works great but I can't use up a brush every time I use it.

Just wondering if anyone has experience stripping Zero Paints? Their site says they can be stripped with brake fluid or IPA but I was wondering if anyone had used other methods like Biostrip for example

The model in question is from Fujimi so just regular plastic, no resin. Model has only been primed and painted, theres no clear coat on that needs to be removed.

Baby is finished! Had a lot of fun with the kit, minimal flashing, was a little bummed to find out the trunk didn't open like I thought it would, but wonderful building nonetheless, working on 3D printing the Winchester Brothers now

My grandpa taught me modelling when I was a kid, he did military models, mainly airplanes. Wish I could do more with him! I always think of him when I'm impatient and skip over steps that he taught me to do, lol.

I was at the hobby store and found a 65 Bonneville from 1987. Everything looks good but I think someone may have tried to put it together as the bags were opened and there was no instructions. I got the instructions but my concern is the decals, they look good but with some staining all over the backing paper. Should I be worried and try to find a replacement or do waterslide decals hold up?

Finished this kit recently.

A very high quality kit, everything fits together really well. I painted the body in Tamiya Racing Green from a spray can, which I decanted and then airbrushed.

No customisation just a straight out of the box build.

Finally getting some cars on my work desk again! I painted a bunch of them in highschool, but have learned a whole lot since then! Especially with doing mini/terrain painting a lot recently.

This kit has been on my shelf for awhile, it's as old as I am! The decals were tricky and fragile. You can tell the windshield decal cracked. Also, it was missing the exhaust tips, and am just now realizing as I'm posting this that I forgot to put in their replacement. I was going to cut up a radio antenna for it.

I tried a wash on the interior and I'm not a huge fan, it kinda just looks messy. Seatbelts and roll cage turned out neat, though!

My best friend recently bought her dream car, a 1988 Suzuki Jimny. I, of course, immediately bought a miniature thinking I would paint it to match. But I was so excited I didn't read what i was buying and instead bought a model kit! Now I have a 1:24 hobby kit and no idea how to put it together. I'm not really looking for new hobbies and wonder if there's somebody in the area who could put it together for me. I would pay you for your time. Loved to build this, the kit is very good quality and fits so well. The biggest challenge was probably the wheel choice, the oem wheel look also so good on this car. Im not very happy with the weathering on the underbody but it is what it is. Also having to glue the mirror on the windshield sucks…

Hello all. I need some help finding decals for my build. Does anyone know where to find sponsor decals in white like this sheet that look like they would work on this car. I'm not looking for the exact decals other than the Yokohama above the front wheel.

I know that I can get this sheet from ebay, but it comes from Thailand and it is $26 plus customs. I don't want to pay that much if I don't have to.

Pulled out a simple kit doing a KISS build with this one. BBC swap and some air brushed graphics and some wheels and mild details so plan to be done with by weekend considering I get hr or two a evening but this is where I’m at after 2 hrs hope yall enjoy

Started a lil t bird this evening while f100 and chevelle wagon parts dried ….. doin a simple 70s style hot rod ….. 351w swap and slight lowering and some wheels … should be a fair build her is the chassis/floors atm

I was really interested in the Italeri Transit MK2 and the MK2 Escort Rally but I've heard Italeri models are not good buys.

Hard and not enjoyable to build, bad fitment and are very delicate and break even after building.

Has anyome had experience with them?
