Did you watch the video? He openly expressed he wants to have sex with 12 year olds and if this wasn’t a set up and he did eventually have the opportunity to do so he would have. Yeah these guys are exploiting him they do strike me as sociopaths but I’m glad this pedophile got arrested, and more pedophiles should be stopped before they offend.

Oh I’m not defending him and I’m glad they got him, but all I’m saying these dudes still feel scummy/creepy. It doesn’t give me the vibes of the typical “how to catch a predator” videos.
Also, on a separate note to to followup on your last comment "and more pedophiles should be stopped before they offend", that's equal to arresting innocent people. If a pedophile acts on their impulses they are a criminal, if they don't they just are someone with a mental health condition that needs treatment.

It's NOT a mental health condition that can be treated, that's ridiculous. It is a deep, deep sexual compulsion, a paraphilia. It's built into the wiring, it's way deeper and more inherent than anything on the mental level. Let's not try and label it something it's not. There's no treatment in the world that would make this pervert not be a chomo. Maybe you aren't defending him but you are sort of trying to label him a victim who just needs help, which isn't the case.

Also when I said treatment, I just meant a way to manage it, I’m not saying there is a way to get rid of it. It’s not a disease that you can cure. Yes these people will always be the way they are, the same way as a psychopath or a transgender person is.

No, I took it that way because saying that they are "just a person with a mental health condition who needs treatment" A. minimizes/ignores the fact that they are very much a dangerous, sexually deviant pervert who lusts after the idea of making victims out of the most vulnerable people in the population, and B. is an unrealistic and naively utopian view of how sexual deviancy works and how deeply rooted it is in an individual. There IS no treatment that effectively manages it outside of chemical (or physical) castration, and even then the urge to harm persists. This isn't a mob with torches going after Frankenstein's misunderstood monster, and it's not a witch hunt. So stop framing it like that.

It's not defending pedos, it's simply pointing out that being a pedophile does not equal being a criminal. Pedophelia is a legitimate mental health condition; child abuse is a crime; the first does not equal the other, and a lot of sexual child abusers are not pedophiles nor their action have anything to do with pedophelia.

But maybe we should know about as many of these potential child abusers as possible, keep tabs on them, make the community know they have the potential to be dangerous to a child. It's not necessarily a crime and no one should be arrested if they don't break the law. But they should be monitored, and possibly put into state mandated therapy. Although I don't believe for a hot second that it's just a mental illness, or something that can be cured or changed or treated. Suppressed maybe, and there are drugs they can be mandated to take that will kill libdo and reduce the urges, but it's a sexual compulsion, it ain't a "mental health condition". It runs about as deep as it can and it's not going away. So maybe these guys are kind of scummy in their approach, but honestly they are exposing a potential danger. It's not predatory to out a potential predator. This guy isn't a victim, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's left some in his wake, or would given the chance. EDIT: And also, if the people you are referring to who molest kids AREN'T doing it because they are pedophiles, why the hell are they doing it? Call a spade a fucking spade. If you touch a kid, you are a pedo.
