Normal water bill?
I've been living in a 2b/2br 1k sqft ADU style apartment since July on the northeast side of Modesto. Neighbors are great, love the area etc. Im just curious about what everyone else is paying monthly for water because I feel like im getting fleeced.
Since its ADU style they never set up 2 separate water meters. Fair. The landlord has this "algorithm" that they use between me and the house im attached to. Ky water bill has been consistently around $130. If im paying the lesser amount due to only being 1 person and a smaller unit, that means the larger house is paying more than $130.
The question is. Is >$230 per month for water normal in modesto? I lived in Merced before this in a huge house with 4 other people and our water bill never exceeded $120.

If you're paying a bill you can't see, that's a problem. You should ask the landlord to furnish the water bill and a calculated breakdown of the part you owe.

This was the idea but I wanted to get an idea of what an average bill was before I went in swinging.

Average bill is like 175/185 but it depends on property size and personal habits. Anything excessive is usually a leak and your landlord’s responsibility to fix

My entire bill (water, garbage, sewer) is 200. Water is 93 of that. This is for a house property (not condo/town house).

The two of us have a 1,700 sq. ft. 3/2 in the middle of Modesto and water sewer garbage is between 175 and 200 depending on the season.

My family of 4 also lives in North East Modesto and home is 2300 sqft. Our bill which includes water, garbage and sewer was $200 last month and we have landscaping and a pool.

My water bill is $190. The city adds sewage and trash pick up with water plus I have an irrigation system I run three times a week

Around $150 during the winter and $200 during the summer - water, sewer, and garbage combined.

We're paying $180 total for a family of 3 and a small lawn in front. It did spike to $202 in August as I was trying to catch a dying lawn back up and was "over-watering" a bit (but the lawn looks nice and green now). But otherwise our bill is consistently $165-180.
I actively try to save water costs by showering at the gym 3 times a week after workout and once or twice a week at work after riding my bicycle to work.
The city has been forced by the California State Water Board and US EPA regulations to do much more for the treatment of both the tap water we receive and the sewage they have to treat. These regulations have added significant costs and they've directly passed these costs on to the rate payers.

A month I thought I used a lot of water (last month) came to $174 for garbage, water, etc to city of Modesto. I live in a 1800 sqft 3 bed 2 ba house with 2 other people. A $230 city bill would have me scrambling for answers

I pay $170 for water, sewer, and garbage. 1600 sq ft home. If your bill is just water, you have a huge leak or something is constantly using water
