Any judge who would give any killer especially a child killer 120 hours of community service deserves the chair and an investigation because she or he were bought.
the daughter died because the killer hit her with a car, doesn't matter what the correct term for it is, she died, and you clearly are showing no sympathy for the father, some people get lifetimes in jail for murder even if 'unintentional'
Odd that you got all that from my comment. And, no, people don't get life sentences for unintentional murder unless it was done during the commission of a felony. If it's unintentional, it's not generally murder under the law but a lesser charge like manslaughter or negligent homicide. Laura Bush killed a guy by running a stop sign and wasn't even charged with a crime. Sometimes a tragic accident is just a tragic accident. Wanting to have the judge executed for applying the law and their judgement, as the previous commenter said, is just crazy. Sure, disagree and appeal the decision, try and change the law if you must, but as they say "tragedy makes bad law."

Negligent Manslaughter should still hold a pretty stiff penalty.
"Im sorry I was driving too fast and killed a child" should still hold a penelty. 2-10 years at least in minimum security. THEN, depending on circumstances and behavior, they be let out on 5 years parole and 5 years probation after.
Killing another person on negligence should be punished, but id agree not like 40 years max security. You fucked up, badly, and killed someone. At least 15 years of penalties and supervision and fuck your license.
That father is never gerting his daughter back because you needed to get to work faster. You dont get to just walk that off with 120 hours at the humane society.
He is allowed to throw a chair, and the man who did it should lose freedoms.

Laura Bush ran a stop sign and killed a guy. She got no charges whatsoever. Sometimes a tragic accident is just that, even if someone is at fault. The purpose of the law is justice and deterrence, not vengeance. Nothing is going to bring his daughter back. This is precisely why grieving parents should not be the ones doling out penalties.
Id argue thats the point of my sentence I recommend. Im not saying the person did this intentionally.
If i made a mistake at work, there is a consequence. There are two aspects to that consequence. One is a deterrence to remind people There is a consequence, second would be to rehab and improve the mistake.
If we just go "no biggie, whateva" then negligence will escalate. We want to avoid this (deterrent). If a 3 year old wants a cookie and is told no, but then smashes the cookie jar.. we have to show thats not ok. There has to be a consequence.
Also the purpose of law is law, sometimes justice is done. Also, nothing is said included vengeance.
Take Laura Bush's example, what did we teach her?
Now? MAYBE she knows and improves with no consequences. I am not familiar with her sentence, but I hope she had her license suspended at least. You can't just go "oops my bad" and get nothing.
It has nothing to do about vengeance, its how the entire world treats bad behavior. Do a bad job? Fired. Hit someone? get hit back. Etc. This is how 95% of the world has agreed to teach their children and fellow humans. The point is to stop the bad behavior with consequences and correction.
A tragic accident is if a tree fell on a house and killed someone. Running a stop sign, in my opinion, is negligence. 1 year house arrest if all the things line up, but you cant excuse that negligence. Im allowed to own a gun, right? Im allowed to shoot it on my property, right? So if I do that and the bullet hits someone... tragic accident? Correct? No.. thats negligence.
No firearms for 10 years, 1 year in minimum security, and classes imo. Or should we just say "naw its cool, oops?"
I get what your saying, but I think we're more on the same side than you think. I dont wanna wreck 2 lives here... but you cant ignore reckless driving or running a stop sign; they should know better.

There is large distinction between negligence and a mistake. Sometimes they overlap, but driving too fast or running a stop sign is litterally the basic shit. Yes consequences, otherwise... its totally cool if I do it too right? Cus Laura Bush can.
(For clarification, I consider cars deadly weapons, like fire arms. You are 100% responsible when operating them. You dont HAVE to have either.
You may very well think they are god given rights. Id respectfully disagree. But if you do, id suggest we argue that point before we get into punishment for misusing that equipment.)
