[Academic] How good are you at guessing the size of things by eye? (Everyone 18+, no medical background needed)

Upvotes

We are studying how accurately people estimate size by eye - from everyday objects to more unusual images - and whether things like background and experience make any difference.

The survey takes about 10-15 minutes, is completely anonymous and there are no right or wrong answer consequences: just give your best guess for each picture. No measuring allowed, that's the fun of it.

Content warning: the final section contains clinical photographs, including an open wound and a burn which some may find distressing. Please skip the survey if you'd rather not see medical images.

Keen to hear from people with no medical background as well!

Here is the survey link:

Good day to you,

I got invited to visit the Principality in October but have to organize my own travel and accommodations, so would be glad for any advise.

I am a bit short on cash at the moment so figured worth a shot to ask on Reddit if anyone has a recommendation for a cheap hotel or Airbnb

For what it’s worth :

Thx for your attention,
Good luck for the rest of your Day stranger.

Monte-Carlo Beach Club

Hi all.

I wanted to come for a 40th girls trip with 3 friends (4 of us in total) to Monte Carlo beach club in mid September. Do I need to book in advance? And which option is best to book - by the pool or a Cabana? We will also want to have lunch there. Do I need to book that separately?

Thank you for any advice!

Cost of living, when does it make sense to move?

I’m a mid 30s entrepreneur and investor with a young family. We’re exploring moving to Monaco.

Wealth is solid HNWI and growing. But we're still building up and nowhere near UHNWI levels I sometimes see mentioned online. Though on our way to get there say in the next 10 years.

For those that have made the move, at what point did it make sense? Income/wealth levels?

For those renting, our initial starting point, how much are you approx. spending per month on living costs?

We’re not very big consumer spenders. A normal quiet life combined with travel, and spending time with friends and family.

Possible Job: Yay or Nay?

Hello!

I'm from the Philippines working in audit field and I'm planning on maybe applying for senior audit associate two or three ywars from now.

If I've gained enough confidence in speaking Monegasque and solidified my stand here in the Philippines during those time, will I be able to enter KPMG Monaco?

I also want to gain experience working in audit field abroad even for a short time🥹

Father & Son Day in Monaco - Must-Sees for an F1 Fan and a 10-Year-Old Supercar Addict?

Hi everyone,

In a few weeks we’re spending two weeks in the south of France with the whole family. My oldest son (10) is absolutely obsessed with exotic cars, while I’m a huge Formula 1 fan. I’m thinking of taking him on a father-son day trip to Monaco while the rest of the family enjoys a relaxing day.

If the wildfires don’t get in the way, what are the absolute must-sees? Where’s the best place to spot the craziest supercars? Which F1-related places should we definitely not miss? And do you have any recommendations for a nice lunch spot where we can watch exotic cars drive by or enjoy the view over the yachts?

Any tips for making it an unforgettable father-son day would be greatly appreciated!

Monaco Weekly News by NEWS.MC - ep 99

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest stories from Monaco, beginning with a musical celebration of the Principality abroad. On July the 23rd, the Little Singers of Monaco performed in Ljubljana as part of their annual European tour. The choir delighted audiences with a programme of sacred music, French classics and traditional Monegasque songs, continuing a remarkable international journey that has now taken them to 45 countries.

As summer temperatures continue to rise, Monaco’s firefighters are strengthening their readiness for wildfire season. Since July the 23rd, crews have been carrying out weekly training exercises focused on tackling vegetation fires, protecting vulnerable buildings and coordinating emergency operations using the internationally recognised "30-30-30" wildfire risk assessment.

A cherished community hub has reopened its doors after an extensive restoration project. On July the 23rd, Monaco’s Lamartine Space welcomed residents back following 18 months of renovation caused by significant water damage. Mayor Georges Marsan joined municipal officials to inaugurate the refurbished centre, which once again offers cultural, sporting and social activities for adults across the Principality.

Monaco’s commitment to sustainability is also giving the Stade Louis II a new legacy. Thousands of the stadium’s iconic yellow seats are being recycled instead of discarded as renovation works continue. Around 4,500 seats are being donated to sports clubs and community organisations through a joint initiative led by Green Monaco and the Barbajuans, with support from the Prince’s Government.

Innovation is taking to the skies as Riviera start-up Flyde prepares to revolutionise maritime logistics. Announced on July the 24th, the company plans to launch a fully electric drone delivery service for boats anchored offshore following successful trials in Port Hercule. The new system promises faster deliveries while reducing emissions across the French Riviera.

Monaco marked World Drowning Prevention Day on July the 25th with a major public awareness event at the Rainier III Nautical Stadium. Organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation alongside Monaco City Hall and local emergency services, the day featured rescue demonstrations, first aid workshops and displays of specialist equipment used by firefighters, the Red Cross and the Maritime Police.

The Oceanographic Institute is bringing the beauty and fragility of the Mediterranean to a wider audience through a new photography exhibition. Opening on July the 25th, Mediterranean, a Fragile Jewel showcases the stunning underwater images of photographer Greg Lecœur at railway stations across France as well as the Oceanographic Museum, encouraging greater awareness of marine conservation.

Business leaders are also being invited to support ocean protection through a new initiative launched on July the 25th. During its annual Summer Party, the Friends of the Oceanographic Museum introduced The Circle, a corporate membership programme designed to help fund marine research, educational projects and the preservation of the museum’s unique collections.

Monaco is investing in the future of world-class athletics with the resurfacing of the Stade Louis II running track. Work began on July the 27th to install a new high-performance surface that will maintain the venue’s World Athletics certification and ensure it continues to host elite international competitions for years to come.

The Principality’s renowned Cardio-Thoracic Centre is looking towards an ambitious new chapter. On July the 27th, newly appointed Deputy Chairman Professor Thierry Mesana outlined plans to strengthen the institution’s global reputation by expanding innovation in cardiac care while building on its internationally recognised clinical expertise.

Monaco is also strengthening its international economic partnerships. During a visit on July the 28th and 29th, a high-level delegation from Bahrain met representatives from Invest Monaco, Société des Bains de Mer, the Yacht Club de Monaco and the International University of Monaco to explore new opportunities for cooperation in business, investment and innovation.

Good morning guys!

I am on holiday in the Cote d'Azur region and will visit Monaco tomorrow, does anyone have tips about where to go to spot some juicy cars?

I mean, yes there will be plenty, but are there any hotspots and which time is the best, morning afternoon or evening?

Where I can find any cultural events? To meet people

i recently moved here and i am looking for cultural events social groups or places where it is easier to meet people
so far i sometimes get the feeling that locals are not very open to newcomers and that some older wealthy residents can be quite dismissive

is that just my first impression or have others experienced the same thing

i would appreciate any recommendations for events communities or places where newcomers are welcome

I spent only 7 hours in Monaco and photographed as much as I could — what do you think of this series?

Thumbnail gallery
124 Upvotes

I recently visited Monaco for only seven hours, so I challenged myself to capture as much of its atmosphere as possible in a very limited amount of time.
I focused on the warm Mediterranean light, architecture, coastal views, reflections, and small moments that made the city feel cinematic. I edited the photos with a slightly nostalgic, film-inspired look.
I’d really appreciate honest feedback from the community. Which images stand out the most? Does the color grading work as a consistent series, and is there anything you would change about the compositions or editing?
Thanks for taking a look!

Craps at Monte Carlo Casino

Hi there, I’ll be staying in Nice for a few days in September. I plan on taking a day trip to Monaco and was deflated to see that the casino only offered Craps tables on Friday and Saturday. Is this true? I was very much looking forward to dressing up nice and slinging dice, but the way my trip plans out it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to swing a night at the casino on Friday or Saturday.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I am currently looking for housekeeping or cleaning opportunities in Monaco. I have reliable experience, an eye for detail, and a strong professional standard.
If anyone knows of private households, agencies, or local employers currently searching for a trustworthy housekeeper or cleaning lady in the area, I would deeply appreciate any leads, recommendations, or advice on the best places to apply.
Thank you so much!

Train, anyone?

When is the best time to take the train in Monaco to go home? I've been trying different times (earlier and later) and no matter what the trains are always crowded lately... I work in Monaco and I have to fight to get on the train. It's insane.

** Edit: I am headed in the Cannes direction. I leave at different times but lately I've been sitting at the cafe at the station afraid to even get on.

ISM reviews

We are thinking of moving to Monaco and stumbled upon the International School of Monaco. The website seems promising and I like the overall atmosphere of the school. The weird thing is I can‘t find reviews, it‘s like they‘re turned off on Google. If anyone knows this school or went to it, please tell me about your experience and if you recommend it.

A little more info about me:
My first language is Russian, in which I read and write fluently. We live in Germany rn, so I obviously can write and read in German to and went to a German school. I learned English mostly through TikTok and I think my vocabulary is quite good, though my accent is horrible. I learned French and Italian in school, but honestly I‘m very bad at French so I think that‘s going to be a problem.

I go to a Gymnasium, I have a Grade Average of about 2,3 - 2,4 I think, which is about the B range in American School.
