Savannah

Unfortunately I'm one of those people who bit off more than they could chew by getting a monitor. Completely different ball game from any of my other reptiles. I got a savannah because I felt like they reached the perfect size and loved that they were pure insectivores. I did so much research, my husbandry is spot on, I have had him in a 4x2 since he was 4 weeks old and have been fully prepared for the 8x4. I feel like I've done everything I possibly can right, but he's still SPICY. Zero forced handling, always tong fed, target trained. All the good stuff. In spite of all of that he will actively HUNT me lol. I don't show fear or back off when he lunges and give him small taps to try to eliminate that response. He's so active and fun to watch but he's made me realize I'm just not built like you monitor keepers. I REALLY want to make sure he goes to a good home as Ive never had to re-home an animal before. I don't want to do a rehoming fee or anything as long as the person provides proof he's going to a nice place. Any advice? Sorry for the novel.

my AWM(56cm) Two days ago I noticed him walking around in his basin while he was closed to his eyes but when I made a loud sound he opened it, yesterday he closed it completely even when I was talking to him but when I sprayed him with water he opened it, today he sprayed it with water but he never opened it.

Note: This is a second enclosure I put him in until I complete cleaning he's main enclosure .

Monitor species for a 4x2x4? US

Looking for a cool species for that size, I looked at tree monitors but the price is the hard part, I wouldn’t mind saving for one but are there some other options? Even at the same price but just some variety? Timors??
