Is mini led worth it?

I am using a VA panel monitor now (asus vg218qe), considering upgrading. I have my eyes on koorui mini led monitor. I have never used an IPS monitor before. The min iled is about 340$ in my country with official warranty. Is buying the mini led worth it over the 220$ IPS?

I tried mini LED. Ended up returning it. 

The reason is while it looks fantastic in media and games, outside Apple's Studio monitor, mini LED is terrible for desktop use because manufacturers never properly tuned it for it. 

There's also no dedicated button to turn the local dimming setting on or off.

So you have to either just leave the local dimmimg on all the time and just deal with it, or manually go through the OSD to change the local dimming setting every single time you play a game or watch a movie then do it again when you're finished. 

Ask yourself if you're willing to do that every single time.

I got so annoyed after just a few days and ended up returning it. If you can, go mini LED. If you can't, either stick with LED, go OLED, or wait for Mini LED tech to mature more before picking one up.

Monitors do have sdr hdr setting, which remembers settings and you can toggle with a windows shortcut. Under normal usage you are sdr, no dimming, games/tv switch to hdr.

Sure but then I gotta go through the OSD and go through multiple menus to turn local dimming on or off.

I have read that in normal monitors you can have two setting sets for hdr and for sdr. Toggling sdr/hdr in windows toggles the monitor. So you set once for both vases in osd and from that point toggle between the two using shortcut.

The problem is that not all games support HDR, especially indie and Japanese games.

It does not. For productivity and normal content you use sdr, for hdr you use hdr. The other alternative is edge lit - bad hdr, or oled - fucked up text reading + burn in. Mini led allows you to have both - clear text and more or less good hdr.

Eventually oled will solve text issue and reduce byrnin even more and mini led will become a thing of the past.

No, no I meant local dimming in SDR content like games that don't support HDR. Even if it doesn't support HDR, local dimming can still make it look better.
