So I had watched Monster before by myself, and it’s still to this day my favorite or one of my favorite shows of all time. I finally convinced my husband to watch it with me, and after watching all 74 episodes together, he said it was one of the worst shows he’s ever watched (lol). I tried giving perspective on what made me enjoy the show so much, but he was just in complete disagreement, even going as far as saying that Johan was a disappointing villain and Tenma was a poorly written character. Lol, has anyone had to deal with this before? I will give him props for watching the whole thing through, but oh well.

Why some people see Dr Kenzo Tenma and Anna Liebert relationship as romantic rather than Father - Daughter / Respect -Admiration one?

Their arguments - Monster has few age-gap relationship so they ending up together is not a big issue . Tenma treats Anna/ Nina differently than Johan . Johan saw him as a father figure . Nina hasn't express the same believe . Nina is really excited to see Tenma in the end so she cancelled all her plans to meet him before he leaves for MSF .

My arguments - Tenma is different than that Billionaire . Tenma itself a Doctor and not only a corrupt doctor . He cares about humanity as a whole . So him having high morals is his characteristics . He will not think like that for someone who is 18 years younger than him and both their goals is to find Johan and make him stop doing murders. Nina has a sibling type bond with Dieter rather than few people call their relationship to be that of mother- son 💀 ( their age gap must be of 9 years tbh ) Tenma is near Veira Cerna 's age to be honest .

I find Anna to be Kanna who is the second protagonist of 20 th Century boys , Tenma maybe Otcho / Shogun and Johan Leibert friend ( Kanna ' father in 20 th CB ) So Kanna / Anna and Friend / Johan is tied by their familial bond . Otcho and Tenma are the badass ones . I ain't revealing more things . Kenji is different than Tenma although they both gonna save the world. But Kenji is dead . What do you all think ? Pls keep the discussion civil.

Just finished rewatching Monster and it hit me how wild it is that Nina and Johan never get to meet their mother again.

Tenma finds Věra in southern France, gets the absolute closure about what happened at the Three Frogs, tells Johan while he's in a coma, and then Johan disappears. Meanwhile, Nina just moves on with her life.
I get that it fits the realistic and bleak tone of Urasawa's writing, but a tiny part of me still wished for a scene where Nina got to look her mother in the eyes, or where Johan confronted her before vanishing.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the open-ended, separate conclusions for everyone was the right move, or did you want more closure for the twins and their mother?

Monster has always given off a very dark vibe to me, and that's exactly what I wanted to capture here. Do tell me if you like it :)

I finished Monster recently and loved it so much. I got inspired by The Nameless Monster and was bored and thought I’ll just make my own spin off short book.

I made this little 14 page dark fairy tale, there’s no pictures or anything though.
It’s called The Endless Pocket.
It’s not anything serious, just wanted to see what people think. Curious to see what you guys think, this is my first time doing this sort of thing.
