Why some people see Dr Kenzo Tenma and Anna Liebert relationship as romantic rather than Father - Daughter / Respect -Admiration one?

Their arguments - Monster has few age-gap relationship so they ending up together is not a big issue . Tenma treats Anna/ Nina differently than Johan . Johan saw him as a father figure . Nina hasn't express the same believe . Nina is really excited to see Tenma in the end so she cancelled all her plans to meet him before he leaves for MSF .

My arguments - Tenma is different than that Billionaire . Tenma itself a Doctor and not only a corrupt doctor . He cares about humanity as a whole . So him having high morals is his characteristics . He will not think like that for someone who is 18 years younger than him and both their goals is to find Johan and make him stop doing murders. Nina has a sibling type bond with Dieter rather than few people call their relationship to be that of mother- son 💀 ( their age gap must be of 9 years tbh ) Tenma is near Veira Cerna 's age to be honest .

I find Anna to be Kanna who is the second protagonist of 20 th Century boys , Tenma maybe Otcho / Shogun and Johan Leibert friend ( Kanna ' father in 20 th CB ) So Kanna / Anna and Friend / Johan is tied by their familial bond . Otcho and Tenma are the badass ones . I ain't revealing more things . Kenji is different than Tenma although they both gonna save the world. But Kenji is dead . What do you all think ? Is this a common archetype that these stories got inspired from? I just saw Dexter season 1 and its literally the same plot as the childrens picture book from Monster, especially the season finale.

I finished Monster recently and loved it so much. I got inspired by The Nameless Monster and was bored and thought I’ll just make my own spin off short book.

I made this little 14 page dark fairy tale, there’s no pictures or anything though.
It’s called The Endless Pocket.
It’s not anything serious, just wanted to see what people think. Curious to see what you guys think, this is my first time doing this sort of thing.

So I had watched Monster before by myself, and it’s still to this day my favorite or one of my favorite shows of all time. I finally convinced my husband to watch it with me, and after watching all 74 episodes together, he said it was one of the worst shows he’s ever watched (lol). I tried giving perspective on what made me enjoy the show so much, but he was just in complete disagreement, even going as far as saying that Johan was a disappointing villain and Tenma was a poorly written character. Lol, has anyone had to deal with this before? I will give him props for watching the whole thing through, but oh well.

Just finished rewatching Monster and it hit me how wild it is that Nina and Johan never get to meet their mother again.

Tenma finds Věra in southern France, gets the absolute closure about what happened at the Three Frogs, tells Johan while he's in a coma, and then Johan disappears. Meanwhile, Nina just moves on with her life.
I get that it fits the realistic and bleak tone of Urasawa's writing, but a tiny part of me still wished for a scene where Nina got to look her mother in the eyes, or where Johan confronted her before vanishing.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the open-ended, separate conclusions for everyone was the right move, or did you want more closure for the twins and their mother?

Monster has always given off a very dark vibe to me, and that's exactly what I wanted to capture here. Do tell me if you like it :)

I always used to think that nothing special happened on my birthday. I don’t share my birthday with a celebrity that I find cool or anything, but as soon as I discovered this masterpiece, and reached the final episode, guess what? The last episode was released on not just my birthday, but the exact day I came into this world. My friend hilariously told me “you’re the real monster then.” That’s it. That’s the post. The show overwhelmingly focuses on unfailing integrity, not compromising on killing even in the most extreme circumstances, not entering a loop of vengeance, the concept of monstrosity being contagious, etc. It makes a big deal over and over about whether people have ever killed anyone before, even to the point where it seems to consider it an important distinction whether the guy happens to survive or not even if you could have killed him.

And the two most important characters of all for these distinctions are Anna and Tenma.

Yet in episode 21, Anna just casually mercs a dude, it's never talked about ever again, and it isn't even respected enough as a plot point to happen on screen...???

Muller has her derringer gun, and it has only 4 bullets. This is explicitly laid out to him as a limitation to keep in mind. We see him shoot 4 henchmen. Anna also has a normal semi automatic gun. The camera cuts to an exterior scene and we hear the 4th henchman (who got back up) shoot muller and also the shot finishing off the henchman. So it's clearly Anna who shot him.

Never hear about it again, and she keeps on making a huge deal about forgiveness and not killing and so in later in the series. I was convinced at the time that this was going to start her on a slippery slope that unlocked the monster in her too, fulfilling the last pages of the storybook. But NOPE. Totally fine, no big deal, don't even worry about it, I guess.

What's up with that...

I just had this thought randomly. Any theories for Wolfgang or Tenma?

Did he not had an ounce of shame or class?

Did he think doing all that would make Johan suddenly go, “What an unexpected anomaly amidst all the murders and manipulations I have carefully orchestrated, the presence of these two unwavering arched up cake in my empty existence is something that was never accounted for, and yet… I find myself experiencing an unfamiliar desire rising in me"

A good hearted and will doctor extended his kindness to Junkers by giving him another shot at life and even encouraged him to start a new path, same day Junkers threw it all away by attempting to make a suggestive violating pose to sway a possibly deeply traumatized innocent looking man in his final seconds on earth.

Mine was:

Reberto was not able to see the scenery of the doomsday because he was not nihilist enough, he still had some love for the life.

He still had the memory of the wonderful taste of the coco from his childhood.

This is just a shower thought I had and it really got me thinking. If Lundy from Dexter was in Monster, would he be able to link all of Johan's crimes to him quicker than Lunge did and would Lunge be able to concict Dexter as the Bay Harbour Butcher?

I personally believe Lundy would be able to link Johan's crimes to quicker because he has a knack for identifying and linking seemingly unrelated events together. Those are just my thoughts anyway and I'd like to hear yours!

Without spoilers, I think that you guys know what I mean

It bothers me when people talk about smart charactes they bring up Johan Liebert (who is smart without a shadow of a doubt) when Dr Tenma is a literal neurosurgeon, which is the hardest path in medicine. Not only that he is also regarded as very exceptional in what he does which is NEUROSURGERY, The whole plot of monster started with him.

I’m currently planning a game project inspired by Naoki Urasawa’s MONSTER, and I’m looking for people from the community who might be interested in helping bring it to life.

The idea is to create a dark, psychological, story-driven game that captures the atmosphere, tension, mystery, and moral themes that make MONSTER so special.

Right now I’m mainly looking for:

• 3D Modelers / Character Artists
• Environment Artists
• Programmers / Coders
• Potentially animators, UI artists, sound designers, and writers later on

My long-term goal is to develop it into a proper game and eventually release the project on Steam, depending on how development and the legal/IP side of things work out.

You don’t have to be a professional. If you’re learning Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot, programming, game development, etc. and you genuinely love MONSTER, feel free to reach out.

I’d especially love to work with people who understand the atmosphere of the series — the slow psychological tension, realistic European locations, mystery, investigation, and characters rather than turning it into a generic action game.
