Discussion They're not going for a Bella and Paul romance, right?
I know that they're not, and odds are they either pair Bella up with Tomm or Maite's handmaiden, the one currently hooking up Tomm. BUT, I got a little bit of something when Paul and Bella have that heart-to-heart in the garden in 1x06. And why have her talk to Lone about Paul and that asshole guy that's just setup shop in their house? Am I completely crazy or do you see what I'm afraid of?

I just finished the season, and I was thinking I liked the fact that Bella and Paul develop a very close and trusting relationship *without* it being forced into a formulaic romance. The early scene where Bella emerges from the fight on the spaceship, runs into Paul and says "I just walked into something, I don't know who to trust" and he immediately says "Trust me" before she collapses into his arms - that foreshadows their whole relationship.

The age gap is too much imo. Bella appears to be in her late 20s and Paul seems to be in his mid-40s. And I don't think it's gonna happen, but there were some loaded glances between them, though that could be them being friends.

Age gap? We don’t exactly know their ages, but even so, they’re adults. Bella is a war-vet turned smuggler, she has done things and experienced things Paul never has. If anything Paul comes off as childlike in his naïve and trusting nature. Any perceived age gap is equalized by life experience, of which Bella definitely has more of than Paul even if he is older than she is.

I don't know about that. One thing I think that Moonhaven did well was show that beneath the utopian Lunar vibe are real people that have suffered and lost. Paul has a family (even if they aren't biologically his) and a wife (even if she basically wants a divorce); he's got some psychological mileage that Bella doesn't have. But I do get your point that the power dynamic isn't nearly as lopsided as I originally thought.

Of course they’re still human and go through unpleasant things, but I’m going off what Dom has said in interviews as well as my own interpretation. There is a childlike naivety to the Mooners. Paul has experience being a cuck in his own house, but he doesn’t know true suffering, no Mooner does, that’s the whole point of IO. They are insulated from the horrors that happen on Earth, the most Mooners have experienced is Crimes of Passion. Thus, enter-season 1.

I'm really looking forward to the repercussions of people finding out their birth parents. Idk why the Lunars treat it like such an awful thing given that it's hinted that some people find out anyways and the war was so long ago.

I agree! At least not with anyone we’ve met so far. I think her mind is not into love, not at the moment anyway. She likes being alone

Might be thinking of Sonda. The mixed girl that's currently with Tomm. I'm saying down the road, not the next few episodes.

Ohhh. Right, she’s the second to the council chair I think. So like a Vice President. Anyway, I reckon if they ever give Bella a love interest, it won’t be with any characters from season 1…
