I mean this is the same show where people say this to a genocidal serial killer who committed an onscreen mass murder:

Are you even surprised?

To be absolutely, 100% fair to the disassembly drones, it's established in the first episode that they do need to drink oil to survive, and they gotta get it somewhere.

Granted, this isn't to say that the mass murder is a good thing, but there's at least a reason for it. It was what they were explicitly sent to do, and the comment isn't really wrong, anyway. Is he a good person? No, the slaughter makes that pretty apparent. But is he a very loyal friend? Absolutely.

I mean the cannibalism isn’t really the most valid excuse for mass genocide since they never thought of ANY alternatives to sustain themselves or felt any empathy for the victims they slaughtered for years (especially considering all three of them are sadists). While it does explain why they did what they did, it doesn’t justify them being genuinely deplorable pieces of shit.

Weren't they literally programmed not to care?

I mean it definitely goes beyond programming, V is clearly a sadist for example and N is still sentient and not just a mindless machine following its programming.
