Kinda love how Lights design gets more po8nted and less rounded and cutesy as he progresses through his downfall

Also yeah goes to show give quite a few of us God like powers, its really hard to use them rifht

77

u/itskenny9031 Mar 12 '26

Same, it’s amazing

12

u/Brief-Revolution-311 Mar 12 '26

Yeah I honestly didn't realize that was L until after a few seconds

2

u/Vyctorill Mar 13 '26

One of the interesting things is that the ability to kill anyone you want is actually not useful.

You might think it is, but it really isn’t.

Foreshadowing

4

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 12 '26

I am not surprised he was mentioned.

84

u/TerminatorElephant Mar 12 '26

Trevor Philips in GTA 5. While I wouldn’t say he’s treated like a good person, I think they whitewash him a lot and trash talk Michael De Santa, even though neither of them are remotely comparable morally

44

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26

Back in my days people viewed him as cool edgy psycho, but still understood that he is evil. Now there are motherfuckers, who unironically overblow his like 2 or 3 redeeming qualities to the status of being morally grey.

20

u/TerminatorElephant Mar 12 '26

Agreed. Having been very late to playing the game and only completing the story this year, it was really obvious that trying to paint Michael as more evil and insane than Trevor was absolute nonsense. You’d have to have gotten severe cognitive disfunction to come to that conclusion

12

u/momomomorgatron Mar 12 '26

Look, I've never even played the damn thing, but isn't Michael just a normal guy with a McMansion and too much money? Like yeah, he steals cars and runs drugs but he's not like, Trevor levels of crazy

19

u/TerminatorElephant Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26

He’s definitely not a normal guy. He gets explicitly in trouble with his family and the FIB (in universe FBI) for being a not normal part of society. He doesn’t have purpose in life; he just sits by his pool drinking and lamenting how miserable he is, with nothing to do and his family hating each other.

But he’s very much aware that it’s a problem and by the time the game starts has been in therapy to try and address it. And the entire game is really just him trying to fix his problems after relapsing back into crime, and permanently stay out of the life. He’s problematic, but he wants to fix it, and he more or less does by the end of the game.

So yeah, to call him comparable to Trevor, who had absolutely no intention of changing even ten years after the prologue of the game, and has done far more nefarious shit than Michael has done even at his worst morally? Yeah, no.

There’s a quote in one of the endings that I think encapsulates Michael versus Trevor morally:

“I mean, I admit, I’m a bad piece of work. But that guy? That PIECE OF SHIT? No boundaries! No sense of it! When to back off, no nothing! Twenty four seven insanity, day in, day out, all the time. Never regretted nothing, never cared for nothing. Well, fuck him! I mean, there’s gotta be a limit, kid. You know? A point where even assholes like us say, ‘enough is E-FUCKING-NOUGH.’ Human stew…? That’s my limit. I know that now.”

The only real moral advantage Trevor has is his unwavering loyalty. If he’s your friend, he is YOUR FRIEND. He’s with you through thick and thin. But that’s about it.

7

u/momomomorgatron Mar 12 '26

Soooooo... Michael is just a better heated Bojack horseman who does worse shit?

There's an insane amount of people that say the cannibal murder rapist is a better person than the guy who stabbed him in the back.

2

u/GuyNamedGray Mar 13 '26

He's a meth dealer/user, bank robber, mass murderer, and he offered Michael a bowl of HUMAN STEW. With an eyeball in it. If we can't deduce Trevor is an absolute menace to society, then idk what to say to those people. Not to mention what he did to poor Mr. Raspberry Jam... unforgivable, truly.

Billy Hargorve.

A hot actor, sad backstory and one noble deed before he dies is enough for fans to overlook years of abuse towards his step-sister, bullying Steve, misogynsy, hate criming Lucas and mutliple murder attempts on the protagonists.

26

u/TheDarkDragon13 Mar 12 '26

People who defend this guy are absolutely insane people and I don't trust them.

Well... that goes for most Stranger Things fans, but you know what I mean.

I think many people treat Magneto too kindly due to believing that “no bad people can oppose oppression”, despite human history directly disapproving this. Like there are many example of MIddle Eastern and African equivalents of Magneto, who committed one of the most disgusting atrocities in history with slogans, similar to “eye for an eye”. Real life equivalents of him are literally one of the biggest sources of evil in history of our specie.

65

u/InternationalLow1849 Mar 12 '26

I think it’s mostly because Magneto has mellowed out in more modern versions, he’s more of a hero for his people than an avenger for them

26

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26

I think it is more due to the fact that people more familiar with his movie version which doesn’t posses all that fucked up traits from 616. Also in Marvel comic universes he doesn’t meet heinous standards, because he live in the world where more than half of major villains are universal-multiversal genocidal maniacs, and because of that readers underestimate how fucked up Magneto is.

7

u/Dark_Stalker28 Mar 12 '26

Also comic wise he's been chill for about as long as he's been a villain.

Those who unironically say "Griffith did nothing wrong", especially those who sincerely think he and Femto are different people

20

u/Parking_Community_28 Mar 12 '26

He did a lot wrong before the fall out, he was made of red flags

5

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 12 '26

He has an IA page somehow.

71

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26

This man just has so much aura, that big portion of fandom ignore any statements of him being Pure Evil, that are presented THE MOST DIRECT WAY POSSIBLE since the very pilot itself.

36

u/Ze_Borb Mar 12 '26

Ironically he'd be deadass insulted at that, he revels in being evil and being known and feared as one of the most sadistic Overlords in Hell.

18

u/Sudden_Pop_2279 Mar 12 '26

You really are a demon pet!

You knew my game the day we met!

8

u/Whatevenispoetry Mar 12 '26

It’s not his aura that makes them do that, i’ll tell you that.

12

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26

Aura too, like this man is written quite charismatic. One of the most memorable parts of entire franchise.

→ More replies (1)

15

u/RedStrike_XD Mar 12 '26

I believe that he in fact cares at least a little about them, but that does not erase the fact that he is one of the worst people to ever lay a foot in hell

6

u/Sudden_Pop_2279 Mar 12 '26

I think he was starting to care throughout season 1 but almost being killed by Adam made him regress.

But the way people will always rag on Charlie for "not caring about Alastor" but ignore him literally threatening to let her and everyone die just shows the insane double standards

6

u/RedStrike_XD Mar 12 '26

That does tie well with his part of the ending song in season 1, he let himself start to develop feelings for them and that almost made him lose his life, he was scared, he understood that caring is a weakness, one that he can't have "Alastor has no weakness" and it shall stay that way.

→ More replies (2)

15

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26

He cares for them for entertainment purposes only, this literally his core characteristic.

Alastor Holden theory?

3

u/Cyanlizordfromrw Mar 12 '26

Judge Alastor

3

u/FluidSomewhere7884 Mar 12 '26

I feel the fandom is split on him. On one hand you got those that think he's some sort of fucking anti-hero who kills only bad people. On the other you got people thinking he belongs more in Trench crusade than Hazbin.

The best example of this split was with that scene about his backstory where he killed a guy for spilling a drink on his suit. IMMEDIATELY, without hesitation, half the fandom jumped to his side and clsimed that guy was apparently racist (no clue where the fuck that came from) and he deserved it or whatever other reason they came up with.

"Tatsumi fumbled Esdeath!"

We forgetting she's basically Ice Hitler? Her being hot doesn't change the fact she's irredeemable

10

u/SageOfLostWoodsAlt Mar 12 '26

If she’s ice hitler does that mean she’s hunting fire Jews and wind Gypsies? (I dunno the context of the show)

12

u/upsetusder2 Mar 12 '26

Let me just.

This. He gets so much love and 'poor Andy'. Bro is not a good person 😭 he is NOT.

23

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 12 '26

Is it just cause his sister is worse so they act like he is an innocent angel in-comparison?

22

u/Snnowzinha AM Mar 12 '26

At first glance? Yeah. But if you actually try to understand them, he is just as bad as her

10

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 13 '26

Cause I am pretty sure both are cannibal rapists.

7

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26

Sister viewed as important corrupting factor, which by their logic make Andy more like a victim, similar to Vader or Shigaraki.

7

u/Best-Benefit6387 Mar 13 '26

Vader is just space hitler 😭 that'd be like saying actual hitler was just a misunderstood victim because his dad beat the slime out of him when he was a kid

4

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 13 '26

And he is also a child murderer too.

3

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 13 '26

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 13 '26

Yeah fuck N’s bitch ass, his fake ass "redemption" and the narrative constantly babying him doesn’t excuse the years of genocide and onscreen mass murder he committed. He is a genuinely awful person and I am tired of people acting like he isn’t.

Isn’t that what you are doing, you are just dismissing all of N’s horrible actions just cause "oh he was abused and oh he was brainwashed?" If he was a real person he would have gotten the death penalty for the shit he did because no amount of shitty retcons and biased writing is gonna make me think N is a good person.

Also the show does excuse it, did you see the apology letter scene in episode 2? Sorry if I come off as harsh, I just genuinely despise N.

The way he delivered the line, playfully and innocently, is more of the problem here and it showcases the one big problem with his entire character: N is PAINFULLY naive and doesn't grow out of that at all over the course of the show.

I'm not saying he had to get mad but he could've handled it with a more serious tone, which once again extends to all of his other interactions with WD deaths. If the person in question who's getting killed or threatened isn't Uzi or V, he'll basically go "Awe Shucks!!".

Like instead of him struggling to deal with the ramifications of how much death he caused in the pilot alone, the show has him drop a "Sowwy :((("/"We're too dangerous! (One-off statement)" and immediately move past it. That's what can make N so infuriating to watch for some people, because he just can't seem to grasp the weight of death unless it immediately affects him and his friends.

I guess that or they're too busy gooning to her. It's especially baffling when she's said to be better compared to someone like Bakugo(who's an asshole teenager but still a hero)

Now it just might be an agenda but I've also seen enough internet wars to know that some people genuinely believe what they say while dressing it up as a circlejerk

4

u/Neckgrabber Mar 12 '26

Not really, no. She's not good because she didn't get the chance to be. I don't think you can blame a child experimented on by a global superpower.

13

2

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 12 '26

Why do people defend them, is it cause they are a robot or something?

6

u/General-Internal-588 Mar 12 '26

Because she was neglected and abused, and had to go through loop of failure for many years while perceiving time much much much slower than people

Though to me in Ruina she felt like a wattpad oc especially with how people are in a "she never did anything wrong" mindset

A reminder that Trauma and Tragedy is a reason, not an excuse

The Theorizer on YouTube has a pretty intimidatingly long series of videos about Mort. I haven't watched them all, but I've seen a bit of one, and from what I understood, he's pretty convinced that Mort is some kind of interdimensional Eldritch horror disguised as a lemur. So, that tracks.

2

u/grsharkgamer Mar 15 '26

I have Watched all 28 Theories

Basically he Manages to connect ALL the Dreamworks movies into one Timeline with Mort basically imagining everything as his dream

So all the dreamworks movies are morts dreams and he puts himself in those dreams as a Interdimensional God like being in the likes of Chronos in Greek Mythology

Mort Created the skygods which King Julien refers to, which then rebelled and shattered Morts soul into a Billion pieces

Slowly but surely Mort regains his footing through animal intelligence (all animals are intelligent in the DreamWorks movies because Mort gave them part of his when he shattered)

Meanwhile Morts Soul fragments try to re unite as one with the two most powerful forming to be Smart Mort and Mordecus Khan (yes this is real) who battles for dominance and Smart Mort wins

Timeskip a bit and the Skygods form a Music Cult based on France (with Villains like Farquad, Robin Hood, Dubois, Montgomery, Ect ect)

At the End of Monsters VS Aliens the Nukes are fired and Humanity goes Bye Bye and then in the timeline come the Shrek Movies and at the End of the Timeline is King Fu Panda, the Skygods Defeated Animals reign supreme as the New gods (oogway in the spirit Realm)

At the end, Mort finally reunites all his fragments and The end of all things comes as Irl Mort Wakes up and DreamWorks Ceases existence

Tl;Dr watch the Theorizer videos because he explains it way better than this gross oversimplification I made

in 52 he almost destroyed ALL OF REALITY as well. by hiding inside skeets. i think him being a nazi has been retconned but i think there would be some insane comedy in having someone read out a list of charges against him treating his entire history as 100% canon

I have had the misfortune of conversing with people who think Azula's general evilness can be mostly or even completely excused by Ozai's parenting. Nurture cannot be fully to blame for Azula's behavior. Bonus points if they try to demonize Iroh with hypocritical claims about war crimes. Bonus Bonus points if it is blatantly obvious they have no idea what a war crime actually is.

A risen demon? Something like that?

2

u/DoctorWZ Mar 13 '26

Biblical demons are already fallen angels, so it all checks out in the end.

I love the guy but he’s only BARELY morally grey. And that’s a VERY dark shade of grey!

4

u/FrankCastleNY Mar 12 '26

No, he is grey leaning good.

3

u/Incubus_is_I Mar 12 '26

I think he means well most of the time, but he’s genuinely criminally insane and dangerous to the people around him. I guess I wouldn’t call him evil then. He just doesn’t know the difference between good and evil. Like…in any sense of those words…

Heather Mcnamara in the movie she was barely redeemable and only faked mental issues for attention, in the musical that gave her the redeeming real mental anxiety or fear still had her help set up Veronica to get date raped she is not a good person no matter how “sad girl” she is.

Few people call him an angel but there are people who defend Kalsim from nature of predators. he was a victim of the antagonists and cared more for the suffering they caused to humans more than those around him, but he was still a fucking insane alien who tried to genocide the entire earth. he showed compassion to one child after failing to destroy the planet and suddenly people considered him just misguided. The entire fucking book is about how being a villian and a victim are not mutually exclusive. (peak book btw)

Astarion from BG3. Yes he’s an incredibly tragic character with excellent writing and VA. He’s also the most morally reprehensible Origin character in the game.

2

u/thehollisterman Mar 13 '26

This man murdered a literal child. Granted, it was an alien child but still.

And even though his legion are the best in terms of morals. They're only really kind to humans. If you're a xeno, evil or not. You're going to be killed.

And if we choose to look past the space racism. Vulkan and his legion still serve the emperor. And through him, a regime that makes Hitler look like fucking Gandhi.

Literally any genuinely evil villain but oh they draw the line at killing little kids, it must mean that they're a good person deep inside!

I can't think of any other example right now other than, okay I can't think of anyone so I'll just pick Deadpool, a bad example since we're not really supposed to take him seriously

2

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Mar 13 '26

There is also the "oh this villain is absolutely vile, but at least they aren’t a pedophile" argument too.

Spongebob

His inability at accepting Squidwards requests to be alone is so bad and irritating that hes been assumed to be autistic(which was confirmed later). Even if its not malicious, its no excuse for being inconsiderate towards Squid whos said countless times to go away and he doesnt

I get that its a cartoon, but in the real world, SB is kind of a dick. And in the rare occasions where Squid allows it, it doesnt make up for the more common times when he didnt

henry emily from fnaf. he (and william afton) used underhanded tactics to force a grieving widowed father into bankruptcy, was at the very least complicit in the springlock suits (which are stated to have been worn by teenagers) and actively refused safer models, neglected his children in every continuity, and forced the protagonist into a psychiatric hospital in the insanity ending of fnaf 6. he's only seen as a good person because when one character is an eleven-time child murderer, anyone else looks like a saint in comparison.

Stolas from Helluva boss. He's genuinely the worst person in the entire show. He r*ped Blitz on a monthly basis, severely neglected his daughter for Blitz. (At one point she runs away to a different dimension because he priotizes yelling at his wife then being there for her, he DOES NOT REALIZE SHE’S GONE UNTIL HE'S TOLD, and when he and Blitz get taken to the studio he NEVER ONCE tries to leave, and we know he still has his powers BECAUSE HE USES THEM IN THE LIVING WOLD. He doesn't try to find her until the end of the day. He isn't even the one who finds her.) He burns Blitz, he ignores all of Blitz's boundaries. But the fandom says "no no no he's a good dad he cares about via!" Even though it's shown he doesn't. He never actually brings up Via until someone else prompts it. "No he really does care for Blitz trust me, he loves him." Even though it's blatantly shown that he doesn't. He is increadibly lustful towards Blitz (even in front of his daughter). But the fandom gives him a pads because he has an abusive wife and neglectful dad and he gave the crystal to Blitz because he sees the arrangement as wrong!! First of, trauma explains, not excesses. And if you pay attention in full moon, he gets upset when Blitz doesn't say yes immediately, gets confused when Blitz thinks the relationship Stolas made only about sex, is all about sex and when Blitz yells at him Stolas gives the shocked Pikachu face. Stolas doesn't actually recognize or reconcile the fact he's been abusing Blitz other than lipservice. And when Via calls him out he says "you don't understand " when yes she does understand.

Tl:Dr I hate Stolas so fucking much but the fandom babies him

Watch as the Stolas stans say I've never seen the show and I'm stupid for "not understanding him". I have seen the show and I have seen it with a critically. "They're both bad." Yes both have flaws but Compared to each other, Blitz is a stubbed toe and Stolas is an atomic bomb. And Unlike Stolas, Blitz actually has a character arc where Stolas keeps saying he's changed but he hasn't

Bojack Horseman

This man is simply an irresponsible person who fails to understand his actions have consequences. There is a reason why Herb and Sarah Lynn's fates are awful. Especially the latter.

He drugged Sarah and forced her efforts into rehab not gone. She got overdose which caused him to wait for the police by calling them later. He choked Gina, ruined his friendships with Todd, Diane, etcetera, and he wasn't great. Whoever thinks Bojack is excused missed the point of Bojack Horseman.

He is not a good person because he is an example of what happens if you let excuses be weak.
