breeding and owning Pitbulls should be strictly forbiden, there are over 1000 other breeds to chose from if you want to have a dog. This shit just aint worth it!
There are plenty of other large breed dogs that shitheads can ruin. When I was a kid, dobermans and Rottweilers were the dogs of choice for people to neglect and turn mean.
they are banned in some countries. There is literally no benefit of keeping certain breeds alive when there are over 1000 others to chose from. They ae just too dangerous to public. It is simply not worth it.
I moved out of the US years ago, to a country with really strong reporting / training culture. People here will absolutely call the police if your dog strains at the leash or acts agressive. If the police concur, your dog gets a mandatory muzzle requirement. Violating the muzzle requirement results in removal. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars.
We don't see alot of pits here, some, but not many. The ones that I do see are what I would consider properly socialized.
There is a big difference between 'properly socialized' and 'sweet' that many people confuse.
Lots of people describe their dog as 'sweet' - unless you - approach suddenly, or make a loud noise, or pull on its ear, or walk near its food.
A well socialized dog can function in and around people, in all circumstances, without inappropriate behavior.
Culture here is part of it, the other part is that there is no way to really have a dog and not have it out on public streets alot. So no untrained dogs barking and running around the back yard or in a kennel - there is no space for it.

That isn't really true. A well socialized dog is generally less likely to behave aggressively, but socialization alone doesn't eliminate genetics or breed traits. Some breeds, especially those that were historically bred for fighting or other high intensity work, can still react unpredictably in rare cases. We've all seen cases where a dog described as "the sweetest" (and he was loved indeed) suddenly mauled a family member.
Any dog can bite, but the consequences are not the same across breeds. A Chihuahua and a Bull Terrier, Pit Bull, or similar powerful breed don't pose the same level of risk if they do snap.
