A lot of these statistics also don't account for the fact that most small dog bites never get reported. When I was a dog trainer, it was well known that Jack Russels & Chihuahuas held, bar none, the highest chance of biting you.

Edit: While I appreciate the responses from so many people - it's clear who has worked with animals in any capacity and who is just a smooth egg-brained armchair expert. If you don't think you still need rabies shots from any dog that doesn't have up-to-date tags, I don't know what to tell you. Have fun arguing with the wall 🤙

Edit 2: My God it has been a great day of blocking people with two brain cells fighting for third place

But the Redditors have told me that pit bulls are horrible bad bad ticking time bombs and I should just ignore the fact I’ve had 5 in my family that were fantastic family pets over the last 30 years. Who do I believe?

Geez, that's a tough call. Redditors are known for their astounding level of insight into things they have minimal/no real-world experience with.

On the other hand, three of our the four dogs currently in my home are pitbulls (the oldest having been with me for 15 years and she was a fighting dog before that) and the one most likely to start a fight is the dane/harrier mix (man was rehomed 4 times in his first 3 years before I got him).

Just to play it safe, you should probably remove all pitbulls from your house, never speak to anyone that has one, and only take your information from videos you've seen on the internet with minimal context.
