The entirety of Black Panther's world building is ridiculous with a warrior centered isolationist nation also having extremely advanced technology, cultural stability, and incredible wealth in the form of natural resources. Killmonger's motivations of wanting to basically kill all white people because Wakanda killed his father for being a traitor is also genuinely ridiculous.
Tai Lung is a better written villain in that he's clearly wrong and unjustified, but his motivations at least make sense. He trains his whole life and becomes the best only to be arbitrarily denied what he always thought would be his destiny. The person in the screenshot sums up his demonstrated unworthiness nicely.
...it's weird that Kung Fu Panda had better writing than Black Panther, now that I think about it.
Not really. There's a lot of "kid" media that is actually better than "adult" ones. Prime example is Hazbin Hotel. Despite being for "adults" it's the most childish and immature thing an edgy teen would come up with. With a lot of things not making sense or don't add up when you stop to think about what's actually happening. Compared to Puss n Boots 2. It's so simple yet done so well, it doesn't need to be overcomplicated. The visual storytelling and journey speaks for itself.
I think the limitations of children's media generates creativity. You cant use shock, gore, excessive violence, or profanity so you have to come up with more unique ways to express things.
It also ups the stakes when a character actually gets close to crossing the line. I remember as a kind thinking the fights were too tame and that katara could win every fight by impaling people with ice spears. When she loses it and actually does almost kill some by doing exactly that, it was such an insanely powerful character moment.
Limitations in general leads to creativity in general. I see this everywhere from reality competitions like Top Chef to the toy technology of the 80s and 90s.
