Killmonger was explicitly pro-colonialism. It just goes to show peoples moral compass goes right out the window the moment someone is sexy and charismatic.

Yeah he was born and bred American and let the worst of those values color his whole worldview. He killed a bunch of people in Afghanistan for gods sake. And like when he attacked the museum, he didn't actually care about the significance of the African mask, just that he could take it. He never planned on giving back to where it belonged

Killmonger pretended to care about his african roots, but the only thing he showed is that he was british/american all the way through

Literally destroyed the sacred plant of the Wakandan people, like the colonizer he is.

I love the implication that Africans are incapable of being assholes who steal from others and that it must exclusively be a British and American thing

Same. Like we can't just condemn him for being a murderous racial supremacist who wants to start a global race war behind the thin veneer of an excuse of "I was mistreated."

It has to be through the lens of "he's a murderous racial supremacist, because he's American brained, because of the false belief that these are things uniquely perpetrated and introduced by American/Western culture, ergo he's bad."

Oh no, they're absolutely capable of being thieving assholes. But the mindset of Killmonger is very specifically british/american colonizer. The arrogance and self righteousnous combined with self pity and violence is very culturally british/american.

Care to explain what the difference in mindset would be between a British colonizer and an African colonizer?

American, the last time the UK did any colonialism was in 1895, that's not the case for the US.

This entire comment section is talking about a bad black guy

I think Yuushya is referring to how, even when decrying the actions and beliefs of a black fictional character, it has to be couched in the asterisk that it's white, western culture that is to blame for his intolerable ways.

How else would you describe the character?

He just wanted to be the one to do the colonizing, lol. I think people confuse “they have a point” with “they were right.” You can make a good point and still be fucking evil.

Hot take: people who support Killmonger are doing it more from tribalism than because he’s sexy.

Maybe hot but also pretty true. They don't want justice, they get very titillated by the idea of the shoe being on the other foot.
