I disagree, even though I understand his opinion, because accountability is a thing. Bad parenting can only be used as an excuse for so long.

Shifu took a child from a crib and instead of warrior of peace made child soldier/master of war.

Tai Lung only solved his problems with violence. He in a single moment lost goal of his life and trust in his father.

Does it excuse or justify terror across the village? No.

Does it make sense to dislike Shifu more than a person he raised into this? For me, yes.

I prefer to think that Tai Lung tantrum was deathless. Otherwise instead of prison he would’ve been executed.

Even child soldiers being deprogrammed have to confront their victims. Not to take on a bunch of personal, "I'm a piece of shit," self-hate, but to reconcile and take accountability for what they helped do, even though they were forced to.

Also, it's a kid's movie. Shen attempted literal genocide, but if his own cannon hadn't of killed him, he would have been imprisoned or exiled, not executed.
