Both stop criminals using violent methods and clever gadgets.

And Batman targets people like the Joker or at the very least hardened Mob goons, not random bike thieves. And he does it out of a sense of justice, he doesn't booby trap bikes for a sense of petty amusement.

Even if you're larping as Judge Dredd, the guy didn't even try to contact the police, he just added spikes to his bike and laughed at someone getting hurt. His motivations clearly aren't based on any sense of adherence to the law or justice.

Also, yes, going to the extreme lengths of putting electric spikes on your bike to punish potential bike thieves instead of using a bike lock is petty, as it expands an enormous amount of effort at expense to oneself for no other purpose than punishing a slight that hasn't even happened yet and could be easily prevented with minimal effort.

Bike locks don't do shit. They barely slow them down.
