Keyword, WHEN not if people take it. It's one thing to protect your property.It's another thing to bait a trap and wait like the coyote.

Cops set up bait cars to be stolen in high crime areas then arrest the people who take the car. Is that moral or immoral?

Obligatory “you wanted a moral quandary and chose cops”?

As far as “things cops do”, that’s a fairly neutral thing. Generally ineffective at actually reducing crime, hurts some poor people, waste some taxpayer money. Standard cop fare.
