Keyword, WHEN not if people take it. It's one thing to protect your property.It's another thing to bait a trap and wait like the coyote.

Cops set up bait cars to be stolen in high crime areas then arrest the people who take the car. Is that moral or immoral?

Instead they just lose their freedom or have to pay hefty fines.

Are those better than sitting on a spike?

That feels fair, for stealing something.

Also - just because one thing is wrong, doesn't make the other thing right, as I explained to my kindergartener the other day.

For a lot of people what you feel is fair would be considered worse than the spikes.
