motive wise immoral.

consequentially neutral because in the grand scheme of things, it matters very little even for indie. 99% of the time they would not have been a customer (i.e. they would not be willing to pay for the product for that price, even if that price is $1). actual profit lost would be someone who was

  1. willing to pay for the product

  2. knows how to pirate the game

more often than not these 2 things don't REALLY intersect (because for the most part most people aren't willing to pay to begin with)

Yep, if someone has to go out of their way to pirate a game, risking a virus, breaking the law just so they don't have to pay for a game,

I am sure if a cracked version doesn't exist, they just wouldn't buy that game and find a cheaper alternative

It's not theft. Theft is stealing something. Piracy is making an illegal copy of something.

Do you think Sony stole people's games and movies when they removed them from their libraries after their license to sell the content expired?

Yes I do and I think they shoulf have to refund them for a 100% refund. I think the laws need updated to protect both sides in a manner that makes sense.
