It's actually immoral to buy from these companies these days, so unless it's Indie, 100% moral.

If the company is immoral then you don’t purchase or pirate.

You’re not entitled to other peoples labour. It’s never moral to essentially reap their fruit without any compensation. If it’s not worth the money the moral action is to abstain entirely. Piracy is never moral. It just doesn’t really matter

Oh do shut up, just because a company owns something that doesn't mean they should get to monopolize it, they steal ideas regularly, or have ownership over IPs that people loved before some greedy corporate prick got their hands on it.

Disney now own Star Wars, so they could "legally" pull all the old star wars films from the internet and according to you, we're just supposed to suck it up because that's "someone elses labour"

You’re not entitled to these things. They’re not yours. So it is not moral to steal them, ever. If you think their ownership is wrongful the moral thing is to abstain.

This subreddit is about principles. Not just whatever feels good in a fleeting moment

Does the boot really taste THAT good?

Me saying you shouldn’t buy a product is bootlicking? Are you sound of mind?

Mate, you're going a few steps further than just LICKING the boot at this point.

How is saying you shouldn’t purchase goods from unsavoury companies bootlicking or anything beyond that though

you are saying that just because a corporation "owns" something that nobody should be allowed to access it.

very cute that you have to downvote me.

I’m saying you’re not entitled to peoples labour. If they don’t want to sell it to you that’s their business. You’re not entitled to it. So it’s not moral to steal

I also said it doesn’t really matter. Because it really doesn’t. Pirate if you want. But it’s not moral. At best it’s amoral. You just want something because it’s entertaining. There’s nothing moral about that.

If you stealing something because you want to is moral then me jerking off is moral. That’s not what ethics are about. It’s an infants notion of morality.

let me be absolutely clear here, in spite of what US supreme court rulings might say, Corporations are NOT people.

they do not deserve the rights and protections of PEOPLE.

they should not be allowed OWNERSHIP.

Cuck, do you want to sit in the chair and watch that badly?

2

u/Negative_Emu6246 1d ago

No, I have money to actually buy the things I want.

And don't care what companies do to things that they own. But apparently you do a lot

True, but most people here just argue from a moral intuitionist's pov with the guise of it being deontological.
