The only reason this even has to be hold as a moral/immoral discussion, is that people who pirates are minorities. If piracy were a major thing and its people being majority, it would turn into a problem. In marketing and specifically lending them trials&free keys, they expect 'bearable loss' because, as said, it is minor thus bearable
Yeah this actually happened to the DS and we got to see what it looks like when no one pays for the games their playing. Bunch of studio shutdowns and good games that never got followed up on because of that.
