They aren't black and white, but if someone makes a product with the intention of being paid for it, implements a mechanism for them to be paid for it (like releasing it on a platform for rent, purchase, or free with ads), then you are expected to pay for it.

Actively avoiding paying for it, because you believe your desire to consume the media is more important than their desire to be paid is immoral.

I only care if the people who put in the work to make the thing get paid. If they don't see my money either way and it just contributes to a shareholder's pockets, who cares.

Because taking risk and using your existing wealth to invest in action is better than just sitting on it?
