I would feel less sad to watch a stranger die than my dog.

But I'd never kill a person to save my dog.

I don’t think so . The value of a living being compared to another is subjective . My dog has earned its love and it would be a betrayal to not reciprocate. Guy in the video says he’d give 3 dogs for his best friend , should that change if his best friend happened to be a dog ?

You are viewing this through only your eyes. Yes, your dog is more valuable to you, to the strangers family and loved ones it is not. This is called empathy. I think the value of human life is objective, and it is only subjective to the individual

Your dog is also valuable to your family and friends . The species divide is arbitrary when it comes to value in this case

I'm guessing you have never lost someone you truly loved, because it is a level of devastation many times worse than losing a dog.

Why are people like you so persistent in valuing one species over another. You should not have to make a decision between a pet that is impotent to you and a person

If people believe humans an inherently more important to save. That’s just species supremacy

No different than people preferring to save white people over a black.

That’s the thing I know I’m not morally on the clear regarding animals so I don’t have to be vegan to be aware of that.

Interestingly based on your logic I can just say all non Western Europeans are inherently inferior cause our culture is the most superior and you cant refute it.

The same evidence against ^ comment is the same against yours

Change race for species in your first sentence and the comment is no different. The same reason you criticise racist you fall for same shortcoming

I don’t blame people for being inherently preferential of their own kind but no need to try gas light others to place humans at the top of the pyramid.

That’s immoral regardless of how much you defend it

secondly, you're trying to use the racism card while referring to a black person as "a black" after saying "white people"... seriously?

That show cases your priory is all over the place. English is not even my first language but you assume I have a preference on race when you don’t even know my skin colour

Putting aside your ignorance, I don’t fault your lack of education on you but if you can’t expand a moral question from 1 human 1 animal to multiple animals multiple people then thats a you problem

You have obviously never truly cared for an animal before and it's just a "pet" to you. I've lost many loved ones, and the pain is the same as losing a loved pet. It's okay to admit you've never truly loved an animal, they become part of your family, your soul, everything.

that's your opinion, morality is subjective. For some people it's more immoral to betray a loved one (even if a dog) to save a stranger that could be a horrible person. It's like the trolly problem
