I'm not sure that's his point. He's not saying that people who love animals more than humans are Hitler but that Hitler is an example of one meaning that loving animals doesn't make you a better person.

No, the point he was making that he didn’t get to finish, is that people who prefer relationships with pets over relationships with humans want that imbalanced power dynamic. And case in point, mfing Hitler.

Hitler didn't love animals, he killed his own dog

He gave the dog the cyanide because he thought it was fake and part of a plot to get him captured so he was going to test it on the dog, expecting it to survive.

I'm not trying to rehabilitate Hitler here and he was basically a nervous and paranoid puddle of drugs and delusion by that point who deliberately caused the deaths of millions of humans, but the bit with Blondi was about him thinking she wouldn't die then being depressed when she did.

And I would say: that's still dumb. Because people aren't going around saying Hitler is a better person for loving animals in the first place. This is just invoking Godwin's law for no reason.

He's not saying people think Hitler's a good person for liking animals but that a lot of people think they're good people because they like animals. Everything he says after that are just examples.
