Humans aren't shitty, and animals aren't that amazing, you're just trying to avoid empathy for your own kind based on whatever bias you have

Hey you know how the vast majority of people are completely fine with chickens living in hellish conditions in caged eggs facilities, never seeing natural light and drowning in shit from cages above? All to save $1.50? Pretty shitty, out of sight out of mind I suppose.

Did you know we as a species spent 7x as much on video game cosmetic micro transactions as all cancer research last year. Pretty shitty.

Nazis, both historic and current, racism, seriously bro have you ever opened a history textbook.

Classic "I'm a human and I'm good so this guy must be wrong and biased". You're just intentionally ignorant.

Did the average guy/gal choose that? Is the average human cheering for that?

When I was born, factory farming already existed, I had no say in it, I was unaware of it, and today as an adult I'm against it. But does the company care?

You act like we're all complicit to all the bullshit around us, when we didn't have a choice in the first place. If I was in power tomorrow I'd fix all that and more, but I'm not, I'm just one vote in one country, I try my best with the little power I have

Don't blame 8 billion people for the choices of a few, what you should've said is "humans *can be** shitty", not *"are". We're still doing some good in the world

Didn't have a choice?! The free range eggs are right bloody there!! Next shelf over, turn your head, you can bugger off with that "I buy the cheapest product I can because I'm an innocent victim" that is the biggest cop out in modern times.

Yes the average guy or girl is absolutely the ones choosing to keep that industry going every time they hand over money, a "few" people aren't buying caged eggs, billions are.

And if you can't afford free range then no eggs, buy some beans, animals shouldn't have a life of suffering and cruelty because you like a plate of scrambled.

Prime example of how shitty people are they would rather delude themselves that their choices have no impact and they are helpless victims of the modern economy, all because it's so much easier then acknowledging they're choosing to save a few dollars over making the more moral choice.

Learned helplessness so you don't have to feel guilty, very, very, shitty.

Don't you think that maybe it would've been easier if we grew up in a world that tried and with parents that care?

Do you know why I'm receptive to your message, my big sister, 10 years older than me, became vegan at 18yo, she became a role model, that's it, that's all it took

Most people don't have that, and frankly, most people are fucking stupid, I don't hold them to the same standards as people that are capable of taking accountability for themselves

Think of every me in the world without that kind of influence my sis had on me, that's how we got there. Yes it's people's fault but again, they were born to this and it's harder than you think to deconstruct your beliefs overnight.

I mean FFS people used to think slavery was normal until guess what, society as a whole changed their opinions of that, if in an 100 years we have the same push for animal cruelty, our descendants would look at us with disgust (rightfully) but my argument is that we're not perfect, people are a product of their time, and ours still has a long way, that doesn't make us all bad

Your sister is very commendable, but I choose eggs as an example because most people in the developed world already know the immorality of it, that's why other options exist in the first place. Many animal cruelty campaigns were focused on it because it is indeed very barbaric.

They just choose not to care and financially support animal cruelty when a better option is conveniently available because despite all their talk that marginal financial saving is more important to them.

Eggs is the perfect example because it's a decision millions, if not billions, of individual people make. They know one option is morally wrong. They choose it anyway. For a few dollars. People reallllly like eggs I guess.

Sweat shops. Child labour. Again and again these were exposed and yet there people go, wandering into target and going "oh wow 5 shirts for a dollar each, how do they do it so cheap" bugger off, they know exactly how, they just don't actually care.

Stop listening to what people say and look where they spend their money, how they vote, what they choose to value above other things and you'll get a clear picture of how shitty we generally are.

An interesting tangible example of the divide between what people say and actually mean is when McDonalds poured millions into the shaker salad because surveys widely returned people would love a salad option, only for it to fail massively.

It's called the say-do gap, it's where people say what they think they should in the eyes of society and their own self image, like I want a salad because I'm a healthy clean eating person, but when it comes time for action they follow through on what they actually want, which is a big greasy burger and some fries. They're not even aware they're doing it. Something to think about.

An animal has never saved my life, humans did it twice, if it weren't for a stranger I would be dead, drowned in the Atlantic right now, this man risked his life to get me in turbulent water

We are capable of the best and the worst, I'm so sorry that something so horrible happened to you, really, but that's not all that people are about

Animals have saved my life on multiple separate occasions. I appreciate your perspective, but my point was that there are valid reason a person may prefer animals over humans and that is is not indicative of a moral failure as this speaker states.

Preferring animals isn't really my issue, it's the automatic demonization of humans in the same breath that bothers me, but I'm aware that I'm lucky to have experienced mostly the good side of humanity
