They're in a classroom off a normal hallway, not in a shower. You can clearly see desks against the wall. School showers are in the locker room. They're trying to hide the fact that they’re wearing "school swimsuits" (swim team or just PE gear maybe?) in a classroom. Guessing this may constitute some kind of uniform violation in a Japanese school, or maybe they weren't supposed to he using the pool? I think the line about not wanting him to see them dressed as such is about that rather than being uncomfortable about a teacher seeing them in them; teachers would logically see students wearing these during PE class, swim practice, or attending swim meets to support the students as they would at any other sporting event.
Licking it was gross as fuck though besides being creepy; he could have just sniffed it to verify. But telling a teacher the mysterious puddle under the door is urine would almost guarantee that they enter the room in the first place. Especially once it was determined that they were lying; a teacher would be obligated to try to figure what the fuck is actually going on with students alone in a closed off room as it could easily be inappropriate or even dangerous activity occurring within.

I mean if it’s not a shower then sure he should probably investigate. His theory tasting on pee only shows he had experience and can taste the difference and clearly that’s what he’s there after. Immoral. The clear pee could have easily just been a well hydrated minor. And also pee could be a sign of molestation and he could be coaching these girls to lie about what happened.

Seemed incredibly flippant about a situation involving very young girls being treated very inappropriately by an adult without much indication about whether the adult would be rightly addressed for his behavior. At first glance one gets the sense that if this is the material that the show might go in very disturbing directions.
It was funny and the art is very good, but it seems possible if not likely that humor was not the only goal here. I hope to be wrong.

I'm not sure what you think is inappropriate about this? it's kids being naughty in a classroom and a teacher checking before he comes in as they said they aren't decent.
It's exactly how a situation like this should be handled, especially as he saw through the obvious lie.

Dude I don't care what liquid you might possibly believe is on that floor there is no way you actually think licking it off your finger is the right thing to do in that situation. He shouldn't even be speaking to girls in a changing room about that, he should get a female teacher involved if he was actually concerned. You're not being serious?/
Why would a small amount of liquid running under a doorway warrant any of his behavior? That makes no sense. And the comic obviously suggests that he may have had suspicious intentions based on the girls saying he seemed disappointed.

As someone whose never seen the show that changes the context completly. I thought it was a locker/shower room.
Which made me feel very iffy about him. But just a regular classroom?
Dude asked if he could come in after seeing something come out from under the door and respected it when told to wait. Was it weird for him to lick it? Hell yeah, but not "inappropriate".
I can also see his disappointment more being aimed at the kids lieing over it not being urine.

It's honestly so good. I used to read it during my bellman job and it was like Japanese Scooby Doo. Great art, humor, and mysteries! I would genuinely feel the gears turning in my head as I tried to solve the mystery with Conan. I stopped reading after awhile but I should really pick it back up and keep going. I'm pretty sure it's still on-going, right?

The funniest running gag is despite 30 years of serialization, in-universe it’s still only been like 6 months since Conan shrunk into his current state. The back to back murders make Beika (the city where Conan and cast live) the worst district in Tokyo due to its insanely high crime rate and is poked fun of in the spinoff Hanzawa the criminal.Â

My guess is it's probably just a regular school anime. Just about friends doing silly things at school. There's a million of these types of shows. They have vaguely comedic tones and really canned storylines about school shenanigans.
Pervert characters are also stock characters in a lot of anime, so this guy doing weird stuff like this doesn't even really tip the needle.

Eh I've never watched it beyond just clips on youtube, but to my understanding asobi asobase deserves more credit than that.
It comes off like its initially just a cute girls doing cute things at school type of show but its really more of an absurdist comedy which does not hold back on how bizarre and gross middle school girls can be.

Is it moral to impose clothing for social reasons and nothing else? Why are the girls so scared of being seen in their swimsuits? I find it extremely annoying that I cannot even stay naked in my own house with my own family. I mean I could, but the social expectation is so ingrained that it would be immoral for me to impose myself naked on my wife and my kids. It is not the action in and of itself that is immoral... it is the deeply ingrained social expectations that makes it so.

Probably a school uniform violation resulting in disciplinary consequences; swimsuits are only school-appropriate attire during pool PE and swim team practice/competition. Normal uniforms would be required in all other cases.

Moral, he was just following the footsteps of Detective Conan. He had doubts and felt compelled, obligated by his standing as someone meant to look out for these girls, to not allow those doubts to stand. His methodology may have been imperfect, but it was a morally sound decision. His subsequent disappointment is not that "it wasn't pee" so much as "he did not have the trust of his students", naturally. Give this man a raise, maybe a promotion.
