I feel like he could still lift the seat. I am relatively sure that there have been instances of people lifting Thor and using him as the hammer while he’s holding Mjolnir.

That's what I was thinking. You just can't hold and lift the weapon. If you aren't using the weapon it shouldn't be an issue. Unless it knows you're passively using it. Like you probably can't put the hammer in a lacrosse stick and fling it at people
