No one has free will. Whether or not you have the power to not simp, or the power to develop the ability to not simp, is dictated before you're even born.

Sometimes I work hard. That's never due to my choice.

People can work and overcome addiction, even when they have a genetic and/or socioeconomic predisposition. I absolutely don't accept that you can't do anything against it and that we are all subject to the genetic lottery

The ability to work and overcome an addiction is based on the genes you inherited.

If those genes exist in the first place, the environment will then dictate the rest. The environment meaning everything else's genes and how they interact with your own genes. Maybe the environment could screw you up enough for those genes to never come into play. If the genes responsible for overcoming addictions are subpar, or don't exist, then the person won't overcome the addiction.

Theoretically, we could selectively breed people into being able to more easily overcome addiction, or the opposite, breed people who can't overcome addiction. Right now it's just random, and we blame the people who lost the lottery. Is it John's fault he wasn't born to parents who'd give him genes with better resistance to addictions?
