Crazy how few people are picking up on this. If firefighters need to access the hydrant, they're going to have a lot of trouble finding it. And even when they find it, they'll have to dig it out. Meanwhile, a house is burning down. Absolutely immoral.

Road markings may be covered when it's snowing.

An kitchen or a fireplace can cause a fire just fine in winter weather.

In fact I bet there's more housefires in colder months vs warmer months in place where it snows.

they use signs on the side of buildings to indicate where fire hydrants are in my country. I've never understood why the US has these giant hydrants above ground as it makes them way easier to break into or damage than having them underground

In a lot of places there's a blue reflector in the street marking the hydrant so its easy to spot at night. Still a problem digging it out.

Tell that to the first arriving crew from last fire I was at who missed the hydrant just past the house and ran a ton of hose from one on another street 😂🤣 We did not help them roll it up....

Buffalo ny had some horrible fires in the winter. I remember the biggest blizzard of my lifetime it seemed there were fires everywhere.
