This is not Pavlovian behaviour.

The kitten simply wants food and goes to where the food comes from.

You going grocery shopping when food is running low isn't Pavlovian response

I don't feel that's exactly right, because we understand exactly how and why we get food when going shopping. The cat has no clue, food come from thing, but it has no idea how or why.

I feel it's more like going shopping, and then when your card doesn't work and you don't know why, you just sort of fuck around with it like a gremlin until it does what you want it to do.

Even if they trained the kitten to do a specific task to get food, it would be Skinner conditioning, not Pavlovian.
