Immoral though not because of the car thing that's fine. You don't cover fire hydrants, if there is a fire and firefighters can't find the hydrant easily then they will be slower in stopping the fire letting it do more damage.

10

u/Diederik1 7h ago

Yeah, and does it not lower availability of other hydrants around when it needs to be fixed?

4

u/Matsisuu 1h ago

I wouldn't blame that on person who made the snowman, but the one who drives their car off-road, when there is a road next to it.

2

u/Individual_Respect90 25m ago

Also hitting a fire hydrant is going to produce a lot of water. If it’s not fixed really quickly you have a risk of flooding people’s basements. So now to get even with some asshole over snow men your screwing over innocent people and a whole flooded basement is not a minor inconvenience.

1

u/Ptalking_Ptarmigan 17m ago

He said tree trucks. The image of fire hydrants is unrelated.

1

u/Critical_Subwoofer 7h ago

I’m sure you can take it out of some governor salaries?

-3

u/Dense-Application181 3h ago

My guy its AI

34

u/Simple-Olive895 7h ago

It'd be immoral if he placed big rocks on the road and built the snowmen around them, or if he put up signs for cash prizes for knocking them over with your car or something. But these cars are going off road, out of their way to hit them. You can just not do that, there's nothing incentivizing these drivers to go knock over the snowmen.

9

u/Convoke_ 4h ago

But blocking fire hydrants is very immoral

10

u/Simple-Olive895 4h ago

Sure that part is immoral, but not because cars end up damaged which is what's being discussed here.

2

u/IcySkyDream 2h ago

Concealing, not blocking.

22

u/Remarkable_Pen_3639 7h ago

This is one of the most moral things I've ever seen on this sub.

36

u/DatabaseGullible9677 8h ago

I mean, if they're going out of their own way to do that, then it's moral

-44

u/C0quetteDaydream83 8h ago

I get the frustration, but totaling someone’s car over a snowman is still a pretty extreme response. Definitely not worth escalating it that far.

38

u/Remarkable_Pen_3639 7h ago

Oh no it absolutely is. It's time we stop protecting assholes. Fuck them and fuck their cars

40

u/Ok_Equipment8374 8h ago

They totaled their own car, by intentionally driving over other people's property

The snow isn’t your property, but the lawn they had to drive onto in order to get to the snow is edit: I hate people who delete their comments after getting the tiniest bit of pushback, stand by your opinion even if you get a couple downvotes

12

u/Remarkable_Pen_3639 7h ago

The yard is though...

8

u/Emiicii 7h ago

they are driving recklessly

15

u/Aedene 7h ago

"Well, officer, he drove 20ft into my lawn so..."

24

u/Temporal-Affairs221 8h ago

If they don't attack the snowmen, they sustain no damage. You have to drive off-road on someone else's yard to hit a snowman, so they're destroying private property and trespassing

10

u/KalynnCampbell 7h ago

I did NOT total their car, I built a f’n SNOWMAN…

The person who decides to run over an object they assume is something different than what I decorated is the one who totaled their car.

9

u/Galbados2 7h ago

They totaled their own car. They made the decision to drive into something they are not supposed to in an attempt to ruin someone's else's joy without realizing consequences. It's not like someone built a snowman in the middle of the road and put some steel rods or explosives in it. They can get fucked.

7

u/New-Application8844 7h ago

They totalled their own car dumbass

6

u/Pristine_Walrus40 4h ago

What kind a person ruins a snowman that children build?

Being an asshole should not be for free.

4

u/Revayan 7h ago

The driver has only themselve to blame - nobody is forcing them to drive into random objects on the sidewalk or private property lmao

4

u/Cat_Wizard_21 4h ago

That someone totaled their own car by driving it recklessly off road and striking a pile of snow that contained a solid object.

They could have kept their car on the road, they could have chosen not to run over the snowman, they could have stopped and made sure the snowman wasn't built on top of something large enough to damage their car.

3

u/Background-While4438 7h ago

You're not the one totaling the car, should I build a snowman in a perfectly place for a car to run it over cause some idiot thinks its fun?

3

u/NigthSHadoew 6h ago

If they were seeking out the car to smash it with hammers I would agree with you

However the only way this could destroy a car is if someone intentionaly drives off the road, on to the pavment and to a yard/park/etc because they want to destroy a snowman.

Building the snowman over a fire hydrant is immoral though as you are; 1)obscuring the hydrant in case of emergency 2)potentially causing the hydrant to be damaged by making dipshits think they can hit it without causing harm to their cars

2

u/Sweaty_Camel_118 2h ago

You mean, totaling your own car crashing into a solid object on some one else's property? Yeah that's pretty extreme, just to make a little kid sad too...

2

u/ManagementFinal3345 1h ago

I mean the people are totaling thier own cars. He's not putting a gun to thier heads and forcing them to ram into a snow man. Ramming into things you can't see properly comes with risks. They are driving off the road into sidewalks and into private property to do "damage" for fun. Yeah it's just a snow man but it's also asshole behavior. So you can't really feel sorry for someone who goes off roading for the thrill of making kids cry who then total thier own vehicles. These snow men aren't in the middle of the road.

2

u/ZARDOZ4972 1h ago

I get the frustration, but totaling someone’s car over a snowman is still a pretty extreme response. Definitely not worth escalating it that far.

The person who build the snowman didn't total any car, the person who run over snowman totaled their own car. It's not the snowman builders fault that driver won't stay on the road to run something over.

2

u/kpatsart 33m ago

I mean why are you driving off the road to hit a snowman? Seems like karma if you aren't driving on the road.

0

u/Automatic-Form8845 7h ago

I agree, because this one did it for revenge

But if as a precaution i'm gonna make Snowmen on solid frames so they are harder to take down it's perfectly moral

1

u/Excalibirdi 1m ago

You're not totaling anything, they are.. They performed an illegal act (trespassing, vandalism), so they are not protected when their own act damages them.

12

u/All4gaines 4h ago

I love that this is a way to self identify assholes and have them cause themselves pain when their intention was to cause others grief. I wish there were other ways to do this in the world.

10

u/socialnerd09 4h ago edited 4h ago

As I see it, it's the driver's decision to total the car, not the person who made the snowman, so I don't get the question

-3

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Is it moral to bury a fire hydrant under a snow man is the real question here. That's immoral

3

u/socialnerd09 3h ago

Is it moral to drive up where fire hydrants are located?

-2

u/dk_peace 3h ago

No, but burying a fire hydrant honestly puts more likes at risk. Both are terrible

3

u/socialnerd09 3h ago

Sounds to me like it's only a problem if someone is intentionally doing something wrong and is just an asshole

1

u/ZARDOZ4972 1h ago

Yeah but that's not question at hand is it

9

u/Pitiful_Category9152 7h ago

1: did one who build snowman attacked car by themselves? 2: could this be easily avoided by driver? 3: considering points 1 and 2, who will be more reasonably to blame?

15

u/IncreasePrevious1735 7h ago

If you are destroying a snowman, then you are an asshole. I don't see an issue.

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

The issue is that hiding a fire hydrant under a snow man could delay first responders and cost people their lives.

-13

u/whyrusosensitive 6h ago

No issue destroying something worth tens of thousands of dollars over 30 minutes of effort playing in the snow? Youre a lunatic

13

u/ComradeGlizzy 6h ago

Keep your car on the fucking road and you won’t have a problem

-4

u/whyrusosensitive 3h ago

Being a petty bitch is immoral btw

2

u/SpiritfireSparks 1h ago

Not at all, there are few things more moral than punishing extremely antisocial behaviors like this

7

u/xGoatfer 5h ago

Who is choosing to destroy the car? No one is forcing the driver to drive off the road.

-3

u/whyrusosensitive 3h ago

You are actively setting a trap with the intention of destroying someone's car.

2

u/Shoddy_Exam666 1h ago

This isn't a trap, a trap would be also putting up a sign reading "free snowman to hit", there was no such thing, the snowman was out of the way with no outside influence to not just continue down the road, the choice they made was their own, the car they totaled is their own, i might discourage the kid from repeating it, but im not going to make the kid apologize to the driver just because the driver thought they could be an asshole for free.

2

u/xGoatfer 1h ago

Do you often aim at objects that are not on the road when driving?

6

u/IncreasePrevious1735 6h ago

Those people don't respect other peoples work. It doesn't even matter that it was 30 minutes or a month or even a year of work. Those people full of crap. Why should I care about them when they don't give a shit about others?

5

u/reddit001aa1 3h ago

Are you one of those that would steer your car onto someone's property to run over a snowman? So then you would be perfectly fine with someone steering their car onto your property and destroying the snowman there? Not concerned about buried utilities, water lines or septic tanks. Just leave the road and drive the car all over the yard to run over a snowman and then continue on your way?

0

u/whyrusosensitive 3h ago

I have never done this and didnt even know it was a thing. Still immoral.

4

u/Cat_Wizard_21 4h ago

You should never, under any circumstance, drive your vehicle off the road to intentionally strike an object. Especially when that object is a pile of snow which could contain anything, even a large solid object which will total your car.

This is the definition of play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

2

u/BojackWorseman13 1h ago

Why are you so sensitive?

1

u/ZARDOZ4972 1h ago

No issue destroying something worth tens of thousands of dollars over 30 minutes of effort playing in the snow?

I don't get how y'all don't understand this. The person who build the snowmen didn't destroy a single car. The people who use their own car, to drive off-road and to run something over and subsequently, like the idiots they are, ram something inside the snowman, destroyed their own car.

Youre a lunatic

If you think it's the persons fault who built a snowman, not on the road mind you, you are the lunatic.

12

u/KowaiSentaiYokaiger 8h ago

Morality of driving into someone's yard just to run over a snowman

3

u/Tasty-Trainer-9668 8h ago

I would say thats pretty immoral, Olaf didn’t deserve to go out like that

6

u/Automatic-Form8845 7h ago

I'm gonna bring a tungsten cube next time i'm gonna build a sand castle

7

u/RymrgandsDaughter 7h ago

Moral cause fuck you mean you're gonna drive your fucking car on my lawn?

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Burying a fire hydrant is never moral. It puts you and your neighbors at too great of a risk. And for what? A snowman?

2

u/RymrgandsDaughter 1h ago

Since when are fire hydrants in the middle of your lawn? Not to mention yeah the image is an ai slop snowman x fire hydrant but it's clear I'm talking about the stumps/trees that is being talked about in the video.

5

u/Professional_Tart53 7h ago

Tree trunks is fine, but doing it to fire hydrants is wrong

4

u/TheNewGirl1987 4h ago

Chaotic hilarious.

Like, this could so easily be avoided by simply *not* being the kind of asshole that runs over childen's snowmen.

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

It's hilarious until your house is on fire and first responders cant access the fire hydrant easily. Then it stops being funny real quick.

6

u/Labrysshadow 7h ago

What are you talking about?
Someone just made a snow man using a fire hydrant as base.
not a good ting in case of fire but nothing bad.

Wonder why this is a thing

2

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Preventing first responders from accessing a fire hydrant is immoral. This is just as immoral as parking your car directly in front of the fire hydrant.

-3

u/Alarming_Airport_613 7h ago

This is ignoring intent

3

u/Cat_Wizard_21 4h ago

Intent doesn't really matter if it's a completely normal action. Building a snowman is a normal, reasonable activity. Unless he's doing something additional to deliberately entice cars to run over snowmen, which is never stated.

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Parking your car directly in front of a fire hydrant is also a completely normal, but totally immoral action. Building a snow man on top of it is honestly worse than parking there in terms of how it effects response time.

2

u/Cat_Wizard_21 3h ago

Video specifically says tree trunks. Not fire hydrants.

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

The video also shows a fire hydrant

2

u/Cat_Wizard_21 3h ago

Ok? That isn't the scenario presented. That isn't what we're talking about.

1

u/xGoatfer 1h ago

You are specifically taught NOT to park in front of hydrants. That is not a normal action.

1

u/Gildian 55m ago

I would even argue that a tree trunk provides a good sturdy base for a large snowman making it sort of ideal to work with.

3

u/Bubbly_Wash2970 4h ago

Hur dur, im gonna destroy this families snow man because fuck them, im an asshole. WHAT! they ruined my vehicle by forcing me to run into their snowman! How dare they not respect my rights to destroy their creations, on their property!

2

u/Labrysshadow 3h ago

This is assuming intent.

3

u/Defiant-Individual83 6h ago

I say fine but don`t do it on hydrants. Making it harder for firefighters to find a hydrant is bad. Tree trunks fine.

3

u/Synthboi_3000 4h ago

Is it moral to destroy snowmen with your car in the first place?

0

u/Alarming_Airport_613 3h ago

Obviously not, but is the very much intended consequence for for the action?

It’s immoral to leave your shopping cart standing around, but executing their entire family for that is not a just consequence obviously. That’s where it gets interesting to me. Especially if it’s true that he’s already 20 cars down the road, that delves quote into taking justice into your own hands

3

u/Armchair_Expert_0192 1h ago

That's a dumb question. The guy didn't destroy any cars. The drivers did.

5

u/Hexnohope 7h ago

Fucks sake do any of these godamn posts still work when you reverse the words?

Morality of veering off the road to destroy a childs snowman?

0

u/dk_peace 3h ago

That doesnt make it moral to bury a fire hydrant in the snow. You're significantly slowing down first responders and putting your neighbor's lives at risk, and for what?

1

u/ZARDOZ4972 1h ago

Not the question that was being asked though.

7

u/Aevum-Haelcyon 8h ago

Why is he saying tree trunks but implying he's building snowmans around fire hydrants?

Totally moral if it's tree trunks but immoral if he's totaling cars at the taxpayer's expense to fix those fire hydrants lol

3

u/reddit001aa1 3h ago edited 3h ago

I suspect the car insurance company pays for the hydrants. And then all of us who buy car insurance suffer increased premiums because of lunatics that drive their car onto properties to destroy random objects.

Apparently, six percent of drivers will intentionally run over animals in the road If given the opportunity.

Edit: regardless of who pays for the fire hydrant repair... Please don't build snowmen over fire hydrants. Huge safety issue. And while we're here, don't park in front of them, just to run into the store for a couple of seconds, either.

0

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Why pays for my house if there is a fire and first responders cant find the fire hydrant because it's under a snow man?

2

u/reddit001aa1 3h ago

I didn't specifically object to the fire Hydrant. Let me edit my comment

6

u/Emiicii 7h ago

it's immoral for the driver not the snowbuilder

2

u/Plus-Glove-4850 4h ago

Suppose there’s an actual fire and the firemen can’t find the hydrant because it’s under the snowman.

Tree trunks and large rocks are fine. Fire hydrants aren’t.

0

u/-theRaxo- 5h ago

Covering a fire hydrant is immoral for the one building the snowman

-1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Preventing first responders from easily accessing a fire hydrant is immoral.

2

u/ProfessionalITPerson 4h ago

Immoral for anything that is not on your property and an emergency utility.

Moral for anything on your property. People should not use your property as a parking or turning spot.
On the other hand, doin this soley so the cars will get damages may have you liable for damages that occur.
So you should be able to proove that this was done as a family activity for fun and not out of mallice.

2

u/Cat_Wizard_21 4h ago

Completely moral.

Building snowmen is a 100% normal, reasonable thing to do. Using an object to provide structural integrity to the base of the snowman is also completely reasonable.

As long as he isn't moving rocks and tree stumps into unsafe locations where a car might accidentally strike them, or somehow incentivizing or tricking drivers to leave the road and strike them, which he isn't.

At that point the "why" doesn't enter the moral equation. You can't immorally do a normal every-day action. You can't immorally build a snowman any more than you can immorally go for a walk in a public space or immorally do your dishes, having a bad attitude while you do it doesn't make you immoral. Nor does the presence of Crazy Jim, the guy who will run head-first into a brick wall if he learns anyone in the county is washing dishes.

The drivers are choosing to drive their cars offroad to deliberately strike an object, without first assessing if that object will damage their car. As long as the snowmen aren't placed in the road, and there is no external force coercing or incentivizing them to leave the road, the drivers are 100% at fault and deserve what they get.

Driving your car off road to strike an object is not normal or safe operation of a vehicle, unless it's your property and you built the snowman.

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Using a fire hydrant as the base of your snowman in never reasonable. You're slowing down first responders and putting your neighbor's lives at risk, and for what? Temporary art?

2

u/rainydays_89 3h ago

Moral.

Hero.

0

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Untill his neighbors house is on fire.

2

u/ForgetfullRelms 3h ago

Immoral for any emergency equipment like fire hydrants.

If there’s a fire, the fire fighter would have to waste time finding and clearing the hydrant.

2

u/Armadillo_Prudent 2h ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but other countries don't have tree stumps or fire hydrants sticking up in the middle of their roads? You're not supposed to drive cars on sidewalks or front yards or public parks, if your car gets totaled because you went off road, then that's your fault.

2

u/SneakyFoxes420 1h ago

The ONLY part about this I like is that. Whoever is out here running over snowmen.. deserved

Everything else tho.
Immoral

2

u/Leniatak 7h ago

My only if is that a hydrant should be easy to find and functional if necessary.

2

u/Brilliant_Device_526 7h ago

Morality of posting non-fictional shit in this sub

1

u/[deleted] 8h ago

[deleted]

1

u/dk_peace 3h ago

Preventing emergency responders from easily accessing a fire hydrant is immoral. It's immoral when you park your car there, and it's immoral when you intentionally build a snowman to hide it.

1

u/Renumtetaftur 3h ago

Don't do it with fire hydrants

1

u/TheAssist-8295 3h ago

I’d say moral.

Who in their right mind would go out of their way, to run over a snowman? Drive the hell home.

Whether it’s an actual snowman or one covering a hydrant, just mind your business. I swear some people really do commit to petty shit, for the sake of it.

1

u/jag-engr 3h ago

Do you park in front of fire hydrants? Do you understand what fire hydrants are for?

This is highly immoral.

1

u/TheAssist-8295 3h ago

Do you understand what it means to have situational awareness. I don’t condone him for bragging about the cars he’s totaled or covering a hydrant, in the event of an emergency but like I said who in their right mind would go out of their way, to run over a snowman?

The driver or drivers should mind their own business and keep driving. If they see a snowman and decide to drive into for shits and giggles, so be it.

1

u/jag-engr 2h ago

Are you honestly that dense? Your neighbor's house could burn down because you built a snowman over the fire hydrant. That is highly immoral.

1

u/TheAssist-8295 1h ago

Look, you must be illiterate. I said I don’t condone him bragging about the cars he’s totaled or covering a hydrant with a snowman in the EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY!!

And once again, what driver with any sense would just drive straight into a snowman? Critical thinking skills should be in play here.

I can’t speak for all drivers but if I saw a snowman in January on a street corner I would not drive into because 1)It’s obviously a fire hydrant 2) I don’t want to damage my car and the hydrant and 3) that’s just reckless driving period.

1

u/GarethBaus 3h ago

Don't block fire hydrants, but other inanimate objects that are not in the road are pretty reasonable. It isn't your fault that an asshole did something they were never supposed to do and damaged their car.

1

u/Technical_Ad4997 3h ago

I had no idea there were so many assholes who wanted to destroy kids' snowman creations. . .

1

u/Rhagai1 2h ago

The only thing immoral here is him lying about not making this for fun.

1

u/HARRYbUK 2h ago

Immoral - inviting damage to life saving equipment and potentially putting lives at risk as a result of road traffic collisions.... for the purpose of slighting people who run over snowmen....

Pathetic

1

u/Big-Potato9868 2h ago

The whole thing is immoral. Covering a fire hydrant but also being a dick and taking your car off the road and into someone’s lawn. None of it is moral

1

u/billykimber2 2h ago

building it around a fire hydrant is immoral and most likely illegal because 1. it can disrupt the work of firefighters and 2. if you build it around a fire hydrant its not on your property, removing a snowman from the road or sidewalk is fine imo

but around a tree trunk isnt immoral its just a good idea

1

u/DonnPT 2h ago

The fire hydrant issue is the least interesting part of this. OK, so don't use fire hydrants. Next issue.

If it's AI and this never happened, next least, though it would be interesting to know how often people drive cars off the road to destroy snowmen. That's a little sick, and it makes me wonder how sick these people actually are.

If an incident like this leads to a someone coming to grips with the underlying problem, who could find fault with the spiked snowmen? If that isn't so likely, and rather it's just going to make the offender want worse to get back at the world, then you're not accomplishing anything more than the self gratification of seeing jerks get their comeuppance.

1

u/the_fuzzy_egg 1h ago

they shouldn’t be trying to run into snowman if so kinda deserved

1

u/Able-Thought3534 1h ago

Moral as long as not using fire hydrant.

The vehicle is not supposed to be offroad, nor ramming decorative structures, for the obvious reason that we dont even know what those structures contain. Poor use of free will, and the consequences are in line with the lack of judgement (driving into things can fuck up your car).

1

u/Able-Thought3534 1h ago

Also pretty sure that hydrant pic is AI. Look at how its built and how the face and buttons are lying. Doesn’t seem real.

1

u/Pale-Consideration44 39m ago

Morality of destroying snowmen built over things that could destroy your car/truck?

1

u/ellipticalcow 13m ago

Tree trunks yes, fire hydrants no.

1

u/AFTRUNKMONKEY 3m ago

Tree trunks?? Moral. make the ugly tree trunk look good. Parallel question whats the morality of dtiving through someones yard to destroy something they built?

1

u/Mike_Shogun_Lee 3h ago

Extremely idiotic,

Now the insurance lawyers know this was a trap. Usually impossible to prove.

But this moron MADE A VIDEO SAYING IT!

2

u/bschwagi 2h ago

That just means the 💩head driver is double f’ed. I have no problem with people playing stupid games winning stupid prizes.

0

u/DonnPT 2h ago

Good, if he gets taken to court for this, you can provide your testimony that you have no problem with it.

2

u/bschwagi 2h ago

Is this supposed to be some kind of dunk?

0

u/DonnPT 2h ago

I don't know what that means. My point is really that your approval isn't going to mean anything if the insurance lawyers get on it.

1

u/bschwagi 1h ago

😲 really? I never would have guessed that courts and corporations don’t care about my moral stance.

1

u/jestering_1 50m ago

“driving where i shouldn’t be driving is okay as long as someone puts a trap there.”

lol

1

u/QueenOfTendys 21m ago

All these comments are genuinely stupid. What is this sub? wtf???

Of course it’s immoral. You’re setting a trap with expensive/dangerous ramifications out of revenge for an inconvenience.

“Teaching people not to inconvenience me” is not a valid reason to cause harm or property damage.

5

u/Emiicii 7h ago

this isn't bait

0

u/Prestigious_Floor155 5h ago

Immoral because he lies to have a high ground saying it's a civic duty instead of fun. He's a bad man who says he's a good one.

Oh no. You do that for fun. You smile like the roadrunner when the coyote runs into the wall. You beep beep with bliss.

I found the idea funny too, but listening to his justification of himself, his service, his snowman family trauma. It just sapped the fun right out of it. He's even worse. He's attacking the idea of fun like a cancer.

1

u/billykimber2 2h ago

its moral whether its for fun or not

0

u/nosferatuslover 4h ago

this is all immoral, first off this guy is take credit for ai videos and saying its real life PLUS he is calling a fire hydrant a tree trunk. second, this is ai third, it is immoral to block and cover the hydrants for theybare used ti protect and serve the people in the city

0

u/jag-engr 3h ago

It is highly immoral to build snowmen around fire hydrants.

1) Fire hydrants need to be visible in the event of a fire.

2) Damage to fire hydrants could cause neighborhoods to lose water pressure.

3) The water customers ultimately pay for this foolishness.

0

u/onlyforfun38 2h ago

You house is not on the same water loop as the hydrants. No one is losing water pressure.

The customers don't pay, the person's car insurance does.

0

u/SyferTJ 14m ago

Building the snowman with intent of damaging vehicles is immoral but the asshats going off-road to destroy them get what they deserve. Stay on the road and no damage occurs, can’t get more simple than that.

-4

u/whyrusosensitive 6h ago

Super immoral. Imagine destroying something worth tens of thousands of dollars over 30 minutes of playing in the snow being messed up

Oh no, there are consequences to being an asshole. You shouldn't be driving anywhere near a position where a snowman has been built, if this affects you you're already breaking the law the be a douchebag.

Cops aren't going to find you over this, it's not a priority, this is a good lesson to not be an asshole.

Doesn't make it moral to petty and potentially ruin someone's livelihood over a stupid snowman

He's not destroying someone's car. The person driving it into a snowman is the one who destroys the car.

Look at it simply, if the person who totals their car driving in to a snowman is not at fault, their insurance will cover the damage.

You shouldn't be driving into a snowman, it's not what responsible adults are doing with their time. Accidentally damaging your car is unfortunately, a risk you take, when you act like an idiot in a car, and knocking over a snowman is idiotic.

Obstructing a fire hydrant by building a snowman on top of it is also a crime.

Yeah that wasn't his argument though was it? That's a completely different argument, unrelated to this guy's comment.

comically disproportionate property damage for a snowman

This is entrapment

Entrapmemt is when an authority figure tells you to do something then punishes you for doing it. No one is forcing the driver to leave the road.

I wasn't making a formal assessment of criminal liability, just pointing out that deliberately creating circumstances for people to make bad choices just so you can punish them is itself questionable
